ABSOLUTELY GUTTED! ACCIDENT :(

Lucy - gutted for you - my heart sank when I read this.

All been said before but glad you're only shaken. The car is just metal, albeit nice metal.

Robb gave some great advice earlier. My daughter had a smack 6 months ago and still not sorted and the perpetrator changed their mind and decided no longer to accept responsibility. 6 months of trouble

You're car will be repaired - for sure as the damage will have to exceed 65% of value. If writen off you'll be in shortfall too as you'll never get another for what they offer.

If it helps my buddies run http://www.bristolandlondon.com/ so I can put you in touch if you want aproper accident management company that specilaises in prestige cars and handling the case. PM me if needed

Wow, sorry that happened. I hope they write it off for you. I hear a sports car is never the same after the suspension is wrecked.

The bloke got out of the van and said oh my god are you ok? I didn't even look i'm so sorry.

Probably an American driver looking the wrong way. You drive on the wrong side of the road over there you know.

Glad you're okay. It may be the time for the new Z4 if the coupe is to be written off. The car could have structural damage from the pictures. Did you take out shortfall insurance when you bought the car?

Oops - can't please everyone. Wonder what went wrong?
I have even holidayed with them :)

Very sorry to hear about that, know what it's like. Glad you're ok though, sounds very frightening.

Robb's advice is good, write everything down, these things can take ages and even next week it's hard to remember everything.

Good luck with it.

I think they must have been really busy to have only had a stock of 2 cars :) As you say, you can't please everyone...

Sorry for you Lucy, only saw you the other day too!!

Better watch out when i go past there in the morning(or anytime!)

Dont know whether Black is like my Bronze but sometimes i seem invisible....often put my lights on.
Would have helped if the guy had looked though!

Get straight back out there...

What a sod !
If the car is written off Lucy, have you got any GAP insurance in force ? It made up the diffrence of about 3 grand to original invoice value when I wrote my Boxster S off a couple of years ago
CHIN UP

So sorry to hear about your accident. It is heart wrenching when your pride and joy gets damaged.

At least you are OK, hopfully all the witnesses and his admission will make it go smoothly (well as smoothly as an insurance claim can do).

Keep Smiling.

main thing is you walked away, cars are just bits of metal - shame such a nice one has been smashed by someone who wasnt paying attention.

fingers crossed it all gets settled ok

Wasn't expecting to hear of an accident when i logged in tonight. Gutted for you, Lucy. Looks quite bad but then again i know nothing so maybe it's just superficial. For my 2p worth, i'd call your doctor tomorrow and get an appointment. I'd complain of neck and back pain and get them to give you a collar for a few days. You'll get a good £2-3000 for personal injury compensation. I know it will put my policy (and everyone else's) up but there's no prizes for being nice to insurance companies.

Good luck with it and look on the brightside, maybe the superior, CSL sourced brakes on an M coupe would have helped you stop in time? I know you'd look good in an MC and now you're used to the 3litre, you can handle a few more bhps! And with the extra personal inury money - you'd end up winning from a bad situation!

Lucy... sorry to hear about your accident. Have had similar myself... it will shake you up for a few days (doesn't all sink in at the time).

My advice would be to get yourself checked for whiplash... and a record of it... not suggesting that you make a claim if you have no later problems ... not trying to worry you - but I know friends who have had problems appear months later.

Best wishes

Deag.

Sorry to hear about your accident Lucy, the main thing is that you are ok.

Hope you dont have as much hassle as i did when someone smacked into my TT.

No Way well gutted :( you should get in touch with Accident Exchange they are at most Bmw dealers if not go direct to them they sort out all the insurance and you get like for like or better while my 120d was in for repair i had a car off them for 9 months while the women who backed in to mine admitted it they sorted everything give them ago.

Lucy,

Your car will not start because when the air bags deployed, the battery safety circuit cut (actually knifed with a pyrotechnic charge) the electrical cable at the battery. You have no power... as designed. That is good in some ways (no electrical sparks to ignite fuel) bad in one other: The entire red power cable running from the battery to the engine must be replaced.

I am assuming that the left front wheel will not roll. That is to be expected also. I bet the wheel hub driven into the kingpin and the wheel bearing has been shattered, it is just frozen in place. Easily replaced...

As Sixspeed says, the big thing is if the wheel house and strut tower (actually part of the wheel house) has not been misaligned, then the rest of the damage is just replacing the left suspension components, fender and such other bits that that are bolt-on's that have taken damage.

Here are two pictures of the wheel house assembly.

The overall assembly:

The pieces:
Numbers 2,3 and 4.

Looking at the pictures, the bonnet looks good.
The only piece that worries me is the area of the front structure where the front of the side skirt is. Though, looking at a blow up of the side frame of the car, it could just be cosmetic damage. If your left door opened and shut properly, that's very good sign....

There will be a lot of parts to be replaced, but if the alignment is good, you should get your car back...

As I can attest, these are tough little cars..........

Glad your OK. Be careful if they get you the Z4 convertible. You may want to crossover to the dark side. 8)
