Ok the plan this week is to Install both a MFSW and clear front lights to the Car.... rear clears on order but doubt I'll get them in time to have them fitted for the weekend..... plan to use the Nosa Method.

Read through Pawnsacrifice and Mister Rodgers posts for front light change outs (halogens for halogens)....

anything else we should know before we embark ?

FFIL arrives in half an hour to fo the MFSW and hopefully lights tomorrow...... gulp.

I'm going to have a non sport MFSW going spare by the end of the day all being well... if anyone is interested...make me an offer by PM .... you never know your luck.

Ok the story so far.....

this afternoon MFSW fittes which was a bit more difficult than we first thought.... the real issue being getting the airbag to spring free the lugs are far deeper in the wheel than we first thought and it was only after relooking at the steering wheel in the box that we twigged that the hole on the inside of the wheel quite deep down is where the spring is.

Anyway job done.... Cue the 1000 picture od a MFSW fitted with a ZHP gear knob as mine is a 2005 with black vents interior the car really does look post facelift inside.

Although the lights are not due until tomorrow or thursday we thought we would take the bumper off... its an aero bumper but seems to follow the same pattern as Mr Rodgers write up
http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1071&hilit=bumper+remove....

Cheers CJ10Jeeper for mentioning the washer jets so we had a clamp ready.

One thing to note is the aero bumper does not seem to be held down on the bottom lip with more than 4 bolts rather than the 7 on the standard.

Anyway here is a Photo with the front off .

Nothing really to add to Mister Rodgers excellent write up:

big respect to Pawnsacrifice for getting this job done on his own....

more pics when it comes to the lights.

to be honest so far the bumper has been less hassle than the MFSW..

Right well today was the day .... DHL van arrived this afternoon.... so straight to the light fitment which was pretty straight forward in comparison to the bumper removal we took one light off at a time to check for alignment ... very useful to compare the fit of a light already in place with the new light.

followed Pawn sacrifices Guide which was helpful.. doubt we would have spotted the silver spacers which need to be removed and put in the other lights.

Halogen units were a straight plug and play .. thanks Pawn Sacrifices for the PMs which put my mind at rest over a few issues....

bumper replacement was pretty straight forward ... just a reversal of what was done the other day remembering to plug or plumb back everything as we went.

spent a while getting the alignment right of the bonnet.

Job finished ... insurance company informed and a drive out for a few pictures..... love the new look .... I know some will not like the idea of a 3.0 running with black lights but with maldives blue it looks really cool.

Credits and Much thanks to .... Mister Rodger for the inspiration and the bumper removal guide; Pawnsacrifice for the light replacement guide and other help. Joe at Sopers thanks again normal great service.

next step will be nosa quads..... still trying to work out how bmw can knock out the rear clear light kit for such little money .... less than 90 quid for rears ; badges; brake light and clear side indicators..... ???

Looks good, and much prefer the headlights with the black back to them

Black grills would look nice imo :)

What did you tell the insurance company about?

Looks brilliant

I would try some photoshopping to see if black grilles would compliment the lights.

I do have to pick you up on one thing though 'Nosa quads'?? I think you'll find im the godfather of the quad spot technique :D

Superb Rob, that looks incredibly nice with the clears . IMO could do with the black grille inserts to match the headlights. I know that my first choice (on silver car) would be black light inners and black grille, despite being a 3.0.

I know of another Maldives owner who I guess might be a wee bit jealous...

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Rob it looks great.

Ref the black Grilles, I will bring my Black grilles for you to try at the weekend if you want.

Looks really good

I'm not convinced about black grilles. Best to do some PS views first or a test swap with someone.

'Nosa quads' - what you guys drinking - you can't claim that throne based upon a bit of aerosol tint and masking tape :poke:

Agreed - since you have and make no claim to the throne, then others cannot take it from you...lol

they are approx 90quid from german ebay.then all you need is light tint and masking tape.

None left on German ebay - haven't been any sets posted up for a while now (I know, I've been watching).

£90 is via Joe @ Sopers apparently, need to mention z4-forum I believe. Haven't got around to getting some for mine as tyres are taking priority at the moment...

Part number for the rears set.. B63.21.0.151.626 ..... deffo less than 90 quid and ordered monday and in my garage today....

thanks for the very kind comments guys I am well chuffed with how the look has turned out ... had many moments of doubt as to whether to keep the orange etc. thanks for everyones help would not have dreamed of taking this on without the forum.

what did i tell the insurance company... i recorded that i'd colour coded the front lights to clear.

In terms of the black grilles ... i have studied mister rodgers front end who is the original black and clear maldives and i like it but to be honest i quite like my tungsten grilles and think there is sufficient grey in the indicators and and headlights to pull it off.

Re : Nosa .. it is the Nosa Method when he is supplying the lacquer... :poke:
