a post for those with affectionate eye for a coupe

Just found it on another thread - 588 M Coupes and 617 M Roadsters.

I looked on the "how many left" website the other day and there are only 1,006 currently taxed (no split between Coupe and Roadster available).

I posted numbers and colours on here a while back for 'M''s supplied to me by BMW. However, the totals from whichever sires never seem to tally exactly.

coupes have the added rarity of selling in much smaller total numbers than roadsters. I see a black roadster every morning parked by Aintree racecourse, it has bright pink alloys

Try telling your mates you don't drive a hairdressers car after they see that!!!

I see a fair few Coupes around Cirencester and Malmesbury, but I've only seen one other Roadster S (and that belongs to a chum at work and he's selling it)

I used to see quite a few Roadster S's. Living in Nottinghamshire you tend to see more due to the proximity of Sytner Nottingham. For those who haven't been, they have an area of their showroom specifically for Alpina.

I asked a friend which I should buy. He said roadster because putting the top down would make the car special. I said that surely the rarity of the coupe made it special. His reply was that only people outside the car see that, few would care and it was just daft vanity if I wanted people looking at me.

The irony is that he was driving a bright Orange 997 GT3 RS when he said this :)

Since i bought my Z4M i havent seen another one, beit coupe or roadster..

Have seen quite a few Non M's but the Z4 doesnt seem a very "common" car..

There is a black one in Old Glossop that i see regularly, its just had some fresh 108's fitted..

is the HML.com website correct because if so they indicate only 128 SI coupe/autos currently taxed in uk ? :o total non M coupes around 400 ! so way rarer than the M,s ? thought so , , ,
we got some precious metal :D

On a recent trip to Canada, first Zed I saw was this...

Thereafter didn't see another Coupe, though almost at every turn then saw Zed convertibles

You need to look through the other classifications - they are not all classified correctly. A lot are just described as 3.0 Sport or 3.0Si IIRC.

i entered " bmw z4 coupe" & got http://howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=bmw+z4coupe

is this way off the mark then ?

confusing as if you enter "bmw z4M"then the figures are as quoted from alternative source ?

Strange, the 3.0Si 'Cabrio' numbers are very low. I wonder if it is because they are just registered as 3.0 or 3.0 auto in some cases ? If you just put in BMW Z4 then hardly any e89s would appear to have been registered, so maybe it's about inconsistencies on v5 docs. Also, the could the numbers be cumulative, as the data comes from v5s, so new registrations ?

If you look there are (i think) about 8,700 cars classed just as Z4's on HML so I think they will be a mix of si's, coupes and roadsters of varying engine types.

There were over 23k e85/86s sold though IIRC, so I am not sure how accurate the site is to be honest

Being the geek I am Bing, I totted the numbers up and according to HML there are 21,383 E85/6's taxed. There weren't many SORNS which suggests nearly 10% have met an untimely end!
