A normal or a bad hood fit?

Just noticed that the passenger side of the hood's edge is about 2/16" from the fender's edge, while on the driver's side it's about 3/16 to 4/16" Looking at the car dead on, the gaps between the edges of the hood and the fender are obvious...enven though I jsut noticed them. Can this be, or should this be adjusted by the stealership?

After I had a new wing fitted, mine was the same, and the bonnet sat slightly lower too, although just in certain places. Did you get yours new or CPO, maybe it has had a new wing at some point?

Got mine new two years ago.

I would think the stealer could adjust the fit and it sounds like your Zed is still under warranty. :driving: ..

Thanks for the input, guys. As this is not a critical matter, I'll bring it up the next time I'm at the stealers.

I was told by my dealer and the regional rep that any body adjustment (fenders, doors, trunk, etc) needs to be done before 10K miles to be covered under the warranty. But good luck and hopefully the dealer will sort it out for you without giving you any hassles.

Thanks for the heads-up, GP. Luckily, I'm a bit under 10K. I just emailed my SA to see what he has to say about the alignment.

This may sound stupid, but double check and make sure both latches on the hood are securely engaged. On my wife's old '03 Z4 3.0, if you don't put some weight into shutting the hood, it won't close right although it would appear to be securely latched, but you can press down on the driver's side edge a little and you can hear a "click" sound when the driver's side latch fully engages. If the driver's side latch does not fully engage, it would appear as if the gap on one side is larger than the other, and the hood would vibrate up and down at around 95+ mph.

Mine are even both sides, but the whole hood seems to sit too low. Sitting in the cabin, I can see the fender sittin slightly above the edge of the hood. Maybe 2mm or a sixteenth or so. This I will get the dealer to look at one day.
