Replace navigation fascia with normal one?

We feel like our Z4 feels quite timeless. It doesn't seem to have aged much, except for the antique museum quality navigation screen that rises up from the fascia! It's really letting the side down now.

I'm guessing it would cost a fortune to get someone to swap the entire fascia for one without the navigation unit in the top? Has anyone done this?

It's doable. You need a bit of nerve to dismantle it all but a few have done it.
If I weren't so far away I'd take it on. Hopefully you can either do it yourself or find a forum member who'll help out.
If you are going to get it done then I would suggest an enthusiastic and knowledgeable owner would do a more sympathetic job than a garage.

Another option is to replace that nav unit with a storage tray. I have heard the one from an X1 will fit, but never actually seen it done.

I agree it's useless as a Sat Nav, but you can leave it closed and it's nothing like as offensive as the screens sticking out of the dash on modern cars.

I use mine all the time but only so I can have range, temperature and time displayed on one screen instead of having to go through the displays on the OBC. Although in 5 years I have played with the settings on the Graphic Equaliser 3 times.

Although I seem to remember Simon 3.2M took it out of one of his cars himself, but paying to get it done might be painful!

Would probably be less work to swap a new android unit in? Or whatever they are. There are a few threads on that too.
