6 year old battery - Jump start or replace?

Stupidly let my battery run flat today whilst working on the car most of today with a combination of using the radio and roof motor with the engine off. Now I'll need to get it sorted tomorrow and just wondering if I'm as well buying some jump leads (yes, I don't have any...) or just getting a new battery given the age of it. Not had any problems with it up until now so wondering if it will still hold a decent charge if I jump it tomorrow.

As for what I was doing for most of the day - all will become clear next week when I've finished my project and washed it!

-Oooh the plot thickens JP! :?

Is there not a clear window thingy on the battery that turns either green or black to indicate its health... ?

From what I've heard the battery indicator is notoriously unreliable.

On nights shift tonight so going to see if I can scavenge some leads from someone!

another vote for try the jump start first, if it doesn't hold a charge then replace it. When you jump it, connect it up to the running car you're jumping off and leave it like that for 5minutes. Helps put a small charge into your battery off their alternator and reduces the big surge down the jump leads on the other car's alternator & battery when you kick yours into life.

jump start it and take for a good run i have flatened my battery messing for a day on my z3 give it good run and never played up again :driving:

give it a push start

+1 due to my electrical issues cause by the roof going down in the rain all night last week, my battery was as flat as a fart, bump started it ( I live on a hill ) and went for a drive and now good as new. Mine is coming up for 8 years old

My 5+yr old battery is a bit weak as I've not used the car a lot recently. Got it running & it's been fine so I'd say jump it too. Don't dent the boot pushing tho :)

Cheers guys - going to give the jump start a try first off. Will need to make a wee detour to Halfords on the way home!
