57,687 G29s will be sold in Europe and US ever..

According to Howmanyleft there are a little over 2000 G29s currently licensed in the UK and 845 are M40i’s plus an additional 43 First Edition’s. The M40i numbers in comparison to the other G29s doesn’t surprise me too much.

For those that are gripped by this I added the Boxster and Cayman figures to see how they align with the Z4

https://www.dropbox.com/s/cbga1knavsi1ymy/BMW%20US%20and%20Europe%20Z4%20sales%20data.xlsx?dl=0

So the summary seems to be the Porsche sold about 2/3 of the E85/E86 volumes but sold more than the E89 thanks to consistently strong US sales.

On the G29 not much to split volumes but the Porksters are more more popular in the US than the G29..despite the very attractive cloth roof. If you added Supras then BMW/Supra would be up by about 40%-60% on Porsche.

I make it (at the end of 2020) 845 M40is, 43 First Edition, 287 20i and 23 30i so around 1,300 ish G29s? So M40s are about 68% of the G29 Fleet

On E89s there are (licensed), 1172 35i/35is, 9,907 N20 powered ones and 5,126 ^ potters excluding 35i/35is or about 16,845 E89s

So 35i/35is as a % of fleet is around 7%!

These are licensed to the end of 2020..so the G29s will change during 2021 and give or take a few SORN E89s..

You’ve missed an additional 804 30i. No surprise the 30i is more popular than 20i either TBH.

Ah yes, see that now thnx

Still makes M40i variants just under 50% compared to a much lower figure for the 35i/35is…

I assume buyers logic / finance / relative pricing must be the determining factors…?

I obviously can’t say this is the case for everyone but when I was researching the G29’s, and without man maths being involved, for a comparison I ran my preferred spec of M40i through the configurator and also a 30i with all the desirables to bring the spec to almost the same, LSD, Technology stuff etc and iirc the prices were within £££’s of each other so for me the M40i was the obvious choice when the prices were almost the same.

This makes me happy, the less of those bulbous grotesque noses on the G29 I need to see the better

That’s good because the only view you’ll get of mine is the @rse end as it’s pulling away from you :poke:

Unfortunate, as that end is terrible too :poke:

Maybe something to do with the E85 / E86 were built in the US and the others weren't, maybe that's why more of them sold in the US compared to the other models. That and the fact that stupid SUVs have taken over the world... for now!

I don't think the G29 is a flop judging by how many I have seen here in Spain recently. Still in two minds about that car, the side and back look ok but that front!

Both of them are fabulous looking cars as far as I’m concerned, especially in Orange. However, the G29 has generated far more positive interest and compliments than any car I’ve ever had, including the E89. Just saying

Each to their own. The coupe to me looks as if BMW got towards the rear of the car, ran out of ideas, and simply cut it off there.

Neither the E89 or G29 are particularly good looking cars though the E89 is the better looking and doesnt suffer the same inflated/swollen face that the G29 does.

You may notice my smile is sooooooooooo much bigger in the M40i than the 35is. Still happens every time I drive it! :D

I never noticed the earlier Z4's at all before. I came up behind and passed a G29 on the motorway, thought it looked fantastic, wondered what it was, realised it was a Z4, did my research and bought one.
As I said, each to their own.

Indeed, though I do enjoy the copium

I'm sure there is a bit of sarcasm in that reference, if I could bother my arse to look for it.
