Let's hope he doesn't stall Alpinas like he stalls ///Ms (twice :poke:  )

Only because you can't park them ;)

I did indeed go to see #255 this afternoon.

Nice car overall drives well.

Engine was cold when got there as advised, was stored indoors though so didn't have a warm-up period of longer than a minute or so.

Full service history with run in service done also.

The services were done pretty much bang on the two year mark each time with its Inspection 2 done in July.

Downsides:
- PDC has an issue but he said he'd fix that.
- Rain sensor on the wipers has some damage to the tinting. The wipers are fairly aggressive most likely as a result when on sensor. They were on non-intermittent when it was spitting.
- Visible in picture 5, the drivers side door sits out about 1-2mm from where it should yet all the bodywork panels line up correctly, could just need adjusting.

Was offered 7k p/x for my 2.0i 08 52k.

Doesn't sound too bad then - warm-up period sounds about right, mine is kept garaged and the engine note settles in under a minute

Birds should fix the PDC and the door alignment prior to any sale - as far as the rain sensor issue goes, the worst case would be a replacement windscreen and that's a bargaining point as they should be able to do that a lot cheaper than an individual would. What sort of warranty are they offering?

Did you get a chance to open her up to test the performance?

and, remember that's their first offer... if you're still interested, a bit of negotiation should get you a better deal as long as you don't appear too keen and require 'persuasion' to get you into the car

Yeah he said he would fix the PDC or find out which it was and knock the price down if I didnt want him to fix.

Would need to get the wiper sensor checked also I expect, he was going to hook it up to kit and see if can reset it.

Yeah I had a chance to drop to second and run the rev meter, was good!

Yeah I expect they may be able to move one of the prices

The filter on #69's rain sensor was peeled back as the fitter of a windscreen had done a crap job. They always worked though.

I'd be more worried about the door alignment. It could be something simple and straightforward but I'd ask to speak to the previous owner and get it HPI'd to make sure there's not a crash in its history.

As with all things motoring, step back and buy with your head as well as your heart.

Did you hear the warm up cycle as described?

The door alignment to the front wing looked spot on which made it a bit less obvious what the cause was. If it just needs adjusting he can do it.

Yeah heard the warm up as described, the car had been indoors but with a cold engine so it didnt last as long as if it was outside. Definately noticed the point where the car pretty much dies down to a low sound compared to when started.

You're still welcome to come along and have a look/listen to #320 if that will help

Yeah I may well do, when would be best for you?

Will take up your offer of being nearby if I do persuade mother.

#308 sounds like a "bag of spanners" (I think this is the Alpina technical term) when it starts up. By the time I've reversed out of the garage, got out, locked the garage door & got back in the lovely engine note takes over - so about a minute or two.

I'm around most weekends - you've got my phone number so just give me a call

Will do,

How many RHD RS exist out of interest?
Don't know how many still exist but Alpina produced 167 RHD and 206 LHD giving a total production run of 373

Okay :)

Traced the last owned via alpina register so might try drop them a mail regarding the door, see if they can reveal anything.

Edit: The email address on the register is not active :(

I thought you said that the door was only 1-2mm out...? Surely that's more likely to be a little bit of hinge pin wear?

Yeah it's hardly out, birds said could have a look at adjusting it

Just remember to take your shades as that car is SHINY BRIGHT RED  Then there is Perry's bonce to contend with.... :poke:

Never seen an RS with a dropped door hinge. Suspicious. Those doors weigh naff all.

You say you found the last owner details on the forum...who? pm me if not wanting to openly discuss.

Twas bright red indeed on the Kent run.

I only found an email address when looking on the register, the name (Neil) sounded right against whom Jason at Bird's said was the last owner. (http://www.thealpinaregister.com/register/Roadster/S/convertible/1 (04 - ) and did a search for #255). However when sending an email to it, it just bounced back as a non-existant account.

I think that the domain name min the email may be wrong - try miglass.com rather than miglsss

Yep, little bit of detective work and Neil Whitehurst has links with Midland Industrial Glass (miglass.com)

Well I avoided something about a nose peg and no bathroom :D

Noticed your actual reply also, have sent something to the new address, it'll bounce back in a minute if you are wrong. No clue how you even figured that out though if right :o

Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna be a smelly b'stard

Did you catch the bit about the previous owner's email address?
