I bought my Z4 5 years ago today so to celebrate I treated it to a bit of TLC this morning followed by a sedate cruise out for a pub lunch with the Mrs
I've had the hardtop on a few weeks now and left it on today as time was getting on when I'd finished detailing. A pleasant, warm experience but on a nice day like today and on my favourite Bowland roads it just felt wrong, I won't be doing it again. First and last time on a run out
In Jan'15 when I was looking for a Z4 I went down to Milton Keynes to see the car as it had the SMG gearbox I wanted and also a hardtop. I was a bit apprehensive as it was 'only' a 2.5 and I'd set my heart on a 3 litre. I'd looked at several 3 litre cars which were all disappointingly ropey and it was a long way to go from Lancashire but as soon as I walked in to the dealers and saw it I knew "This is the one" Love at first sight you might say. Also it had a great service history, 2 lady owners and 53,500m on the clock.
So 5 years later and it has 85k miles on it now and I still love it, I still look back EVERY time  I've looked at other newer cars recently including a test drive in a E89 35is but I just can't bring myself to part with it. There's just something about it. My wife Alison says there's too much of me in it now, maybe she's right. I've made a few subtle mods and done ALL the work and servicing myself. Only ever been in a garage for its MOTs. And maybe that's it...I've got under its skin and it's certainly got under mine.
I've enjoyed every minute, been the length and breadth of the country in it on various runs, met a lot of nice people and made some good friends along the way.
I've no intention of changing it, the love affair continues. Here's to the next 5 years
