4 Wheel Alignment

I've only had the Zed for a week but have not been totally happy with the way it handled on the road. I felt that the car was driving me and not the other way round! To be honest it felt unsafe.
I read through dozens of threads on RFT's, Suspensions issues, dodgy roads etc but could'nt decide what the problem was. I decided to take it in to the local Hi-Q Tyre Centre for the 4 wheel alignment which costs £90 (inc vat) to see if it would make the ride any better.......... pleased to say it feels great now :D

The report which was printed out at the end of the 1 1/2 hour fix suggested that the rear wheels where both way out by several degrees. This was causing the rear wheel to take a slightly different path to the fronts!

Any way I am very happy now. If any one else feels like the handling is very bad, the RFT's may take some of the blame but I cannot recommend the 4 wheel alignment enough.

Ps. If you take it to a Hi-Q tyre centre for a check over they will not charge you a penny if the alignment does not need changing to the correct BMW tollerences.

Can you scan & post the before & after specs so we can see where they were out so much - and maybe state what model is was on.

Is 1.5 hours normal for an alignment - I'm sure my last KDS took less than that.

This is the a copy of the report. It shows the BMW recommended tolerences and then what it actually is. Before & after.
The big differences are shown in the rear wheels, initially -1.37 after correction it was -2.44 (for the rear left) BMW recommend between -2.35 and 3.05.

From your description I was expecting to see toe, caster & camber all over the place :P

So rear camber out by 1º and nothing else - they did remember to put the weights in the seats/boot didn't they :?

I was about to mention the balast... that would alter the geometry.
Im sure if they have used weights? All I know is that there is a marked difference between before and after and that's good enough for me :driving:
