35is - prices tumbling?

Hi guys, I only bought my 07 Z4 coupe in April and really like it, however, I'm feeling the pull of a 35is already...

There are hardly any cars for sale at the moment and those that are up, seem to be sticking. I've watched the prices come down a few times in recent weeks on the cars that Sytner have to offer.

It's hard to gauge what true market value is given the limited comparables, but one things for sure - even having reduced their prices, demand does not seem to support the price of the cars currently up for sale as they're still on the market.

To be fair nearly 30k for a three year old car seems a bit ambitious.

What you guys reckon? What do you think fair value is for a 3 year old 35is with sensible miles? Seems like the downsizing trend continues to bite and noone (except me) wants to buy big thirsty cars anymore...

The other potential option is an XKR which seems to be suffering a similar fate... :-)

The 35i prices seem to start around £19k....But im not sure of the model range with the 35i ... Is it sport and SE ?

In fact i found this at £17k but the mileage is high...

I know what your saying about the XKR though.....Great car,and very quick...

35i non m sport you will find at better prices. 35is is coming down now, they have a high premium over the 35i because they're at the top of the range and rarer. All prices will be falling at the moment, they're convertibles and prices drop after summer and will rise again in spring.

Wish I could find a 35is that's coming down in price, been keeping a eye on them for months. Still 28 to 30k for the Is. Premium price. Too expensive :x

I wanted the is but the extra in the pricing and very little choice forced me to get the 35i which is nearly as good in every way.

 The only thing the iS has over my car is the 'kudos' of it being the iS and that extra 30bhp/overboost job and if I was really bothered it would cost me £400 to exceed that with a remap.

Worth thinking about. Think the 35is are overpriced. Been looking for 35is only locally to get a wee test drive, will now broaden the search

Pah, not true. Us 35is owners also have silver backed door mirrors so there :P

being an Is owner im only going to say worth every penny , I know my previous car (2.5 years old , 12k miles , good spec) was put back on forcourt for 30K back in june and went in about 3 weeks so I guess there is some demand

It's also worth remembering what else is available out there on the used market for similar prices, and the fact the 35is got luke warm (at best) reviews upon launch. I suspect people are put off even looking at these as an alternative to other usual suspects like Cayman S, Mercedes AMG etc. it was always one of those cars which fell in between sports and fast cruiser. I expect that if they were sold as an M, even if they were completely identical, the demand would have been higher as there will always be badge snobs.

Have to echo the above. Not cheap but really worth every penny. I read the lukewarm reviews of the 35is but still bought one, why? Because I believe it is the sexiest convertible on the market and as I'm no Stig, the performance for me is mind blowing. You only live once (hopefully not when you get behind the wheel of the 35is!).

:D :D :D
(still waiting to hit 1200 miles, dieing to try out 'launch control' )

I don't agree that prices are tumbling. They seem rock solid. There are a couple of 35is on auc which have done almost 30k miles. They are still priced at over £30k. Quite expensive for a 'properly 2nd hand' car.

Interesting. The ones that Sytner have for sale have been on for weeks and sure I've seen then reduce the price twice and the cars still haven't gone yet... Look like nice cars too.

The 2 I can see on pistonheads via sytner are both without satnav which seems a bit odd for their top of the range model, so no doubt this is a bit off putting.

However I'm inclined to agree that these cars will be harder to shift for as long as they are priced at 8k+ more than other similar 35i examples. I cannot really see why anyone would jump at the chance to pay this much more!
