It is amazing! Went for a long stint to Settle on Monday and trying to keep to 4k rpm but it is so addictive. I can't wait to 1,200 miles when I can push it a bit more. Even though I am running it in it was still at a brisk speed

2 Mineral White 35is within 7'miles. Unheard off. !

I don't think you are out of the woods having 326 over 296. When I conducted a poll on this site the conclusion was any 19 inch with RFT are prone to cracking

There is a site called BM autosports that sell one of my favourite alloy wheel designs the 19"avant garde M355 5 spoke ,somewhere on the site they strongly advise and I think will not sell a new wheel with RFT's due in their words the poor state of UK roads ,so that means they should only be used on smooth well maintained roads ,my advice would be drive slower and watch where you are going ,easier said than done I know ,I have the 326 wheels ,I love the deep concave design ,

Maniac put some 313 style on his and said no more problems so far on a thread a bit back though not sure if he's on run flats or not. 'IF' mine crack out of warranty i'll put non run flats on some new 296's and hope for the best, like them too much to change the style of rim.

You really would have thought BMW would have sorted this problem by now by changing wheel manufacturer or whatever's needed although the dealer told me it's an exaggerated problem, bless 'em! :roll:

but got to say the 35is is far better in every way

Cheers Shortfuse 2, exactly the same mate, sold my M roady which i would have kept if at all possible, great cars, but as you say this 35is is a world away, so much nicer interior and exterior and better to drive imo, love it.

Nope - Have not felt the desire (or need) to try it tbh

Vid looks like pretty regular 35is acceleration. The launch control will be something entirely different I guess? I'm too scared to try it as 35is already more than enough for me!! Be very interested if someone has tried it though.

I'm on my second E89 on 326Ms with RF's. No cracks or problems and I've hit some big holes! Post 2011 cars benefited from softer compound on Bridgestone's.

It's not size, it's more how the tyre hits the edge of the pot hole.

Large pot holes aren't going to be the ones that do the damage as the wheel will tend to hit the bottom of the hole then climb out. Also they tend to have a fairly even & wide radius edge for the tyre to 'fold' around, this allows carcass to disperse the load more widely over the rim.

The real killers are deep but quite small so the wheel 'falls' on to far edge & there won't be much tread contact in the middle of the tyre due to the high curvature of the hole. The result is very high point load on the rim.

Never the less using RFT tyres dramatically increases the point load on the rims going over slightly proud drop kerbs. The same will be true of pot holes so it's more to do with blind luck and the type of pot-holes you hit.

Cheers for the previous info on the compound change Obs-com, very interesting and hopefully might make a bit of difference, but as techathy points out you have to drive like playing dodgeball, I feel a rant coming on about council cuts, general spending and issues countrywide......no must resist, keep the blood pressure down.. :roll:

Anyone else find that the yellow DSC off light engaged by Sport+ is just too annoying to drive with ?

I generally last a couple of minutes before it gets on my nerves and I change back to Sport to turn it off.

Hi, had a very quick run out this morning with the top down for the first time and...
can't believe how good it sounds, deep burble and lots of pops and bangs on throttle lift, the ride is superb as I like firm suspension, LOVING this car!!!!!!!!!! hope everyone is the same with theirs.

First top-up drive in a long time this morning. OMG you can't hear anything... it's amazing how quiet it is.

Sport mode (not +), didn't floor the throttle, maybe three-quarters. I'm also a little wary of trying launch control (not until I find a nice quiet and straight road anyway).

I am only doing 4 miles each way to work and back at the moment ... but put it in sport mode over speed humps just to get the burbling :evil: (and the stiffer suspension to save the crunching of the front spoiler over the humps)
