Getrag make all the DCT boxes that BMW use, also for Ferrari and Mercedes I think.
Thank you. I'm glad it's not the old Zeppelin builders in Friedrichshafen.

The ZF gearboxes in first generation Jaguar S Types had a high failure rate.

My point is that Zeppelin Friedrichshafen once made a crap gearbox. From what you say, they don't now.Pbondar said:And your point is?Busterboo said:The ZF gearboxes in first generation Jaguar S Types had a high failure rate.![]()
The generation used in the Z4 is two ahead of the Shaguaarrr its the ZF8HP45 released in 2009 vs ZF6HP26 released in 2000

mr wilks said:For me there is also the consideration of adaptive ride :? really wanting to avoid this feature due to known issues & as i'm buying in around the 10plates highly likely they will need attention sooner than later & at £600ish a corner not too appealing![]()
Manual box also appealing especially coming straight from Mroady .
I think as time passes the price difference between the 2 will diminish ( to some extent it already has) as they start hitting 8 - 9 - 10 yrs old then condition , history + miles will prove a bigger deciding factor for many buyers .
