35i intercooler and remap.. wow

Just had an Evolve remap on my 35i Msport all i can say is WOW Dyno says 273 hp with plus 70 torques.. feels so much faster and aggressive.
From 4500rpm it almost feels like an old 2 stroke Yamaha coming on song.. the rev counter is a blurrrrr...very happy bunny

Yes thats what I thought but mine still has the standard downpipes so just adding the intercooler would not be enough.

You could add just the intercooler, and run the MHD stage 1+ map, that should see you around 390 - 400bhp

I'm running a slt custom map at the moment so would need that re doing if was to add a larger cooler. something else to think about :wink:

You won't need to make any changes when adding an intercooler, it doesn't really add any power just prevents the power reduction when charge temps reach 50 Celsius. Downpipes will require the tune to have the catalytic codes disabled to avoid a warning light on the dash and also you would need the load target increasing to get the car to target higher boost.

If you have MHD I could make the adjustments for you.

Cheers for the info. If I'm honest I think the car will be staying as it is with it's stage 1, got to look after it as I aim to be keeping it for a while longer yet and it is quite quick now. What I would like to get some front end feel but I'm guessing without loads of money chucked at it then that isn't going to happen either

It's good to space mods out if your keeping the car a while. Gives you something to look forward to.

Contrary to what a lot of people believe the intercooler and downpipes will give the engine components extra longevity. The intercooler helps by feeding cooler air into the engine which prevents knock and the downpipes remove restriction after the engine which increases airflow and reduces backpressure on the turbos. You lose that benefit when you turn the boost up but if you wanted to stay around the 360bhp level which is the sort of power that the 35is runs then you are going to be putting less stress on the turbos.

The biggest bonus of the downpipes is the increased responsiveness, you can really feel the engine breathing.
