35 owners - what is this - any ideas.

Jim Davison said he gave a girl a lift home in Bentley.
She opened the glove compartment and found golf tee.
What's this for she asked.
He replied to rest your balls on.
She replied, well they think of everything in these posh cars.

Why would you fit one of these?

I should think it helps do a better job of cooling the engine oil?
Rob

Wouldn’t it cause greater engine wear as it bypasses the thermostat valve?

Maybe it would take slightly longer to warm up, i don’t know? Probably alleviated by the cooler oil at max engine temp :?

Brilliant! I don't think I have opened the bonnet since I bought my car off John-e89. Where did he go? lol Passed the MOT last week with no advisories though.

OK so after a few miles driven, some in an ambient temp of 36 deg C the oil averages 10deg cooler for any given driving style apart from hard driving on the hottest days, it averages around 90deg around town.
Warm up is the same - very quick.
My theory is that the oil has a slightly easier life - the cooler oil will help keep engine temp down and reduce load on the fragile water pump.
I also noticed wear marks on the OEM item where it moves up and down, so all that metal has gone into the oil over time, the replacement is static.
Is it worth it? who know....
