p.s. Without doubt black with tarts boudoir red interior is top of my wish list so far. Mr Silverstar sir, I just noticed that’s exactly what you have, please can you post a gratuitous photo to keep me going in these dark times. Anyone else with red leather combinations please feel free to post too, sadly for the sake of the moderators I will ask that this be kept to car interiors at this time :o

Quite honestly I regret selling this car.... :(

Agree - I love that interior colour. I would have been happier if I could have specced that when I bought mine.

If you’re so inclined and enjoy listening to music then you’ll want to get one of the upgraded speaker packages, it was the most disappointing thing about my old zed, the engine was one of the highlights

Great feedback, thanks people. Loving those pictures too, suns out and I can’t do a damn thing about the upgrade from E85 to E89 other then hover around here making plans :x

So when this is over I shall be scouring the country for a 30i, with for sure; iDrive, Heated sport seats and parking sensors....if I can also spy one with some or all of wind breaker, cruise, extended lighting and a sound upgrade I shall be a very happy bunny :driving: ...even more so if it’s metallic black with a cheeky coral red interior.

As an aside, I just took another look at the 2011options and price list. An M-Sport 30i specced with all those goodies (plus metallic paint and 18 inch 293 wheels) would have been somewhere north of £45k....nine years ago.

In general, these cars tend to be owned by enthusiasts. There’s no doubt you’ll get a decent one - stick a wanted post on here when you’re ready to part with your cash.

Good idea, I will do that when I am allowed out. Feels like being 10 again

One more thing to throw into the mix, I think pretty much all Z4s have pretty harsh rides by comparison to “normal” cars. I went for the SE on the E85 I have now as that was meant to be a bit softer, but that can loosen your fillings on our pot holed roads at times.

What’s the thought on suspension and wheel sizes. I assume M-Sport suspension with 19 inch wheels is at the rattle your bones end of the scale, whereas a standard car on 17s is the other end of the scale (I am assuming the removal of the dreaded run flats).

This forum has shed loads of conversations about ride quality - but I’ve never found it to be a problem other than the runflats on a previous 3.0l E85 which tramlined really badly.

Before purchasing my car I test drove a M sport model on 19" with runflats and I really didn't like the ride quality. It's a sports car so of course you have to expect a stiff ride but they way that thing crashed about it was very unrefined very un BMW like. When I bought my Z4 which is the standard model it too came on runflats but 18" this time, even that had pretty rubbish ride not to mention awful noise from those tyres within two or three days I changed the tyres to non runflats and the car was totally transformed. It no longer crashes about and the noise levels have dropped significantly. The car now rides and handles way better. Recently a magazine review I was reading (via a link posted on another thread) echoed the same sentiment as a BMW specialist who I spoke to before I bought mine and that is the M Sport suspension doesn't really offer you any better handling versus the standard car yet the ride is much harder.

It had to be a 6 for me.
Really well spec'd
It has the hoop windy breaker things and the fittings for the central section but the bloke I bought it from said he never had one.
Currently bidding for one on fleabay, don't know what difference it will make.
Not had much opportunity to drive the car as I got it in Nov and plans have been somewhat scuppered for now.

The windbreaker mesh gizmos definitely work - so keep bidding!

Nice chariot Owdgit,

A non M-Sport...but with sport seats? Are they heated? What other options do you have from my wish list?

Sports seats were an option for non M sport cars

What other colour interiors have you considered?

One thing I found quite surprising when looking at E89's of any model/trim, including the top end 35i/is was how few seem to have a decent spec option wise. The I-Drive is notably absent on most cars you see as is the pro audio etc

Having tried both brand new SE and M sport suspension on my E85, I have to say the 70k M Sport suspension on my E89 when I got it was comfier than either. Obviously we are not talking saloon car comfort here but definitely an improvement over the earlier model.

Thanks Mack, that’s reassuring. Sounds like there’s no need to worry too much on the teeth rattling front in that case....an M-Sport, with 19inch run flats may the the exception. But it seems any E89 without run flats is going to be more refined than the E85s in general.

There are some well specced non M-Sport cars about. Mine has the following:

Sports seats
Sports steering wheel
Rain sensor auto wipers
Heated seats
IDrive
Professional navigation system
Electric fold in mirrors
Parking distance control front & rear
Automatic air conditioning
Storage compartment package
Wind deflector
Sport automatic transmission
S676A HiFi speaker system
Cruise control (retro fitted)

I guess my poking about in the options price list earlier helps clear that up a little, the iDrive system was over £2200, while the top spec speaker package all but £900. My must haves and nice to haves quickly added about £8k to the base price, there were a good few other options that could have pushed the new car price even higher. It’s a lot easier stumping up a couple of hundred quid on a used car because someone originally shelled out £5,£6,£7 grand in extras. I assume many new buyers didn’t see the value in the iDrive package, £2200 for a glorified sat nav.. I imagine a good few said bugger that I’ll use my phone or buy a Garmin and save 2 grand, I can keep my shades in that empty box on the dashboard 8)

The seats are easy to retrofit (like for like without modification), I swapped them on mine.
