30i v 28i

Yeah, this is a terrible time for people to sell cars.

People will presume they need the money, for something more essential and make a low cash offer.

Anyone wanting to switch cars will be riding this out until next year. (No pun intended!)

Conversely if you want to buy a car then...

The more likely impact will be a lower volume of cars traded / available unless the economy goes into free fall, but even then, if you need a car, losing money downsizing in a bloodbath market doesn’t help you...

Governments approach to taxation on road fund and fuel will affect it...which is another dichotomy for going low carbon.

I have an E85, albeit a 20i at present. Oh how I wish I could get out there and drive the other versions, but doesn’t seem that’s going to be a possibility any time soon, I doubt my fellow Boris is going to do anything drastic to change that today. I will have to continue with my virtual test drives on here via you fine people. Not much love for the E86 so far, although the title of the thread isn’t likely to draw them in.

The pool of 30i’s (on Auto Trader) is getting smaller all the time, I guess not many are selling during the lockdown and what’s the point if lumping out AT’s significant fees not to sell a vehicle. Hopefully there will be a nice influx of new 30i metal to the market in a month or two, I hope so the remaining cars for sale are beginning to feel like old friends :D

Honestly I think it's going to be a bit of buyers market when things start to a normalise. There's going to be a gluten of vehicles all hitting the market at once, particularly private sellers. I'd imagine autotrader has taken steps to stop traders jumping ship although I suspect most would have been on some sort of contract notice period initially anyway.
These days I find autotrader really is just as the name suggests, for traders. Especially with their ridiculous fees. If that's what your looking for then fine but if your considering something owned by an enthusiast I'd be looking on ebay and the like as well as forums like this. Our E89 was sourced through here and the last few cars I've sold personally went very quickly through ebay.

Well, if you can find one you want from someone who needs to sell, then yeah.

As you say, supply will be constrained.
