Ok fair point.
2 prices on ECU site £250 refurbed £200 own refurbed approx.
If i buy ready refurbed to bolt on it would need programming by BMW but my own won’t?
Cheers

Depending on where you are in the UK (South), there are garages that do a same day turnaround for removing, refurbishing and replacing the unit (including sorting the brake fluid).

Let me know if you are interested

No programming required with either option... the control unit for the dsc is a separate item, so you will keep your original

Read somewhere about giving the pump a whack so I have lol.
Orange lights haven’t returned and cleared fault with reader.

My son's e85 had the same problem. It was just a bad connection at the ABS unit. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ABS unit and then plug it back in. You will then need to reset the fault codes. Try simple things first.

FWIW, I had a very similar presentation in my E86 M Coupe, and it turned out to be triggered by undervoltage from a failing voltage regulator on the alternator. Had to replace the alternator to replace the voltage regulator, and all was good.
Just might want to look into that.

If you have not done so already - I pulled this from ECU testing Cardiff site which explains the faults and causes - it's a very concise . The ABS / DSC computer controller sits on the Pump and is programmed to the specific vehicle.

Let us know how you get on, not sure how many times you will get away with tapping the pump motor?

Yes I did read this and if problem persists then they or Zed shed will repair it.
I’ve hit it once and still Ok, I put this down to age and little use.

I would welcome any recommendations to get my fault code read and whatever it throws up repaired quickly. Murphy’s Law my lights have lit up just before my MOT is due!! I’m based in Bromley/ Orpington area

Cheers

The company I used is based down in Exeter - I am in London also but was going down that way when I got it done.

If you would like me to read the codes for you, I would be happy to lend you my reader. I am based in East London (Forest Gate)

Pretty certain

That’s a great picture of the brushes in the ABS / DSC pump, which is almost always the culprit (they stick because the motor only runs when ABS / DSC is triggered, if you drive like Miss Daisy that could be months). Thanks for posting and glad you got it all sorted

I bought two salvage used abs motor on eBay. Both are stuck :( Anyone know how to fix the motor. The brushed are there but no spin at all... I am using my power supply at 12v and 2A current limit.
