I understand it's not the best way to gauge / estimate consumption. Not interested in anything too scientific.
Also can't ask others to do a brim to brim estimate as they may not be doing the mileage.
With mine it's quite consistant from any quarter tank to any quarter tank. The dashboard estimate is also around 214 miles for a full tank.
I can literally see my wallet draining.
Every so often, when driving, i go "OUCH".
Wifey asks "What's the matter?"
I reply: "Just felt another hit to my wallet in my backside pocket"
I suspect it is to do with that replacement ECU.
I am going to get the old ECU reflashed - probably this weekend
... IF it's warm and IF i can bother to get my ar*se out of bed early enough and IF there's no rugby or football on to distract me.
I have been doing exactly what Rob has said since I purchased my 23i 18 months ago - just under 35mpg and at the las fill up, car showed 360miles to empty

:lol: On a more serious note in the M40i I used eco pro on my trip back from Wales for the first time and it said I was getting 86.1 miles more from half a tank using that mode compared to my normal consumption

In finance pounds and pence, you can keep your other 8 decimal places :lol:
Exactly, no fun on motorways so decided to try that unknown mode. One bonus is that it brings down the projected fuel costs on the Pyrenees trip

Well we all know engineers can do great things with cars but its the shillings pounds n pence men that stop all that great design being launched, more than a groat and you lot stop the fun.
Makes sense when cruising to use the eco mode - no point being in sport plus at 70 on the motorway
I recently drove (28i) 544 way and return on a total of 46.61 + 50.19 + 43.5. Combining motorway cruising 160-170 and some mountain road driving in sport mode with paddle shift. That makes 12.9l/100km or 18 mpg. It is what it is I guess, to me it seems high for a 4 cylinder engine.
i've gotta ask, whats your normal usage pattern?
if you only ever drive 5 miles at a time, and you drive those 5 miles enthusiastically, 200 miles to a tank doesn't seem too bad. if you're cruising along a motorway however, then i'd expect a fair bit better.

Unfortunately I live in a city and I don't use the car every day, when I do is for short commutes in the city. Weekends and work or holiday long trips might be 30% of car usage. I noticed when I use a tank driving mainly in city I can do 420-450 Km. The range extends to 530-550, 550 being the absolute max in motorway at 150kph avg.

Getting back to this. I managed to recover my original ECU by a series of software reflashes and updates to the latest versions.
It feels like a different beast now. I forgot what i was missing.
It's possible the injectors weren't functioning properly/coded properly on the replacement ECU hence the lethargic feel and high fuel consumption.
I have a 60KM each way drive tomorrow so will have a better idea of the change in fuel consumption. Will report back.

I wonder if there’s something amiss with my 23i which returns 30mpg or thereabouts on my 15 mile each way commute of mixed driving - a full tank shows a range of about 330 miles.
The car is also a bit ‘woolly’ on the throttle, except in Sport mode which sharpens things up nicely.
