2023 National meet (no.14), Friday 30th JUNE, SATURDAY 1st,SUNDAY 2nd JULY, 2023,LAKES+DALES

Got back home at around 19:10. Big thank you to Craig and John for a great weekend. The traffic was kind as was the weather. Great to see old friends from many years gone by.

See you all next year.

Thank's guys for the invite, we had a great time.

Loved using the manuel gear box for what it was intended, must have been a 1000 :driving: during the Lakes "Blat" drive :D

Thanks [ref]shuey[/ref], for the heads up this morning  , as i was nearly about to head off M6 South bound home.

Ended up going M6 N to A66 to A1(M) to A14/M11, M25, A127 to drop off friend Karen, A127 back to M25, M20 and home.

9 Hours up and 8.5 hours back. 17.5 Hours to there and back.

Trip details: 994 Miles MPG = 38.1 (Including the Lakes Blat. Very happy with that :D

Thanks Craig for a great run today. Excellent variation up to Stanhope and back to M-i-T, very enjoyable. Great to see everyone and looking forward to the Ayrshire in August run next :D  Si
A few photos from the lunch stop.20230702_131834.jpg20230702_132133.jpg20230702_131846.jpg20230702_141236.jpg

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Was great to see you all.
Despite a few cancellations in the run up,and a few people ending up in hospital before the weekend, and the Milk Tanker accident on the M6 meaning 4 cars/people couldn't make it due to hold ups/long diversions etc,
We still had a great turnout... including Paddy in his rare 2.2 Straight 6, 3 Black Alpinas ,2 Silver Grey M Coupes,Simons Supercharged 2.5 and a few E89s in 20i/23i/35i Guises
Only thing we didn't have was a G29/as the one M40i pulled out enroute due to the M6 Closure!!

Was great to see you all,and already have 2024 and 2025 booked up with the hotel and campsite :D :driving:

I bought my first Z4 nine years ago, and finally went to my first National this weekend - it definitely won't be my last! :D

Many thanks to everyone for making it such a great weekend, and especially Craig for all the time and effort he puts into making it happen.

Some great photos here, although Sean's video proves I left the car park like I was Driving Miss Daisy. I need to get it warmed up properly for next time!

Got home about an hour ago after staying on an extra day.
Many thanks again Craig/John for letting me tag along and for creating a fantastic weekend yet again. Really had a great time as always with old friends and new.
Didn't take many pictures this year but will get the drone footage up (minus the crash :wkr: ) when I get the chance.
Thanks again all and can't wait for next year.

Not much of a consolation Craig, but had this one of you coming by:

Yeah, sorry Craig,

Was all set and phone jumped back to Photo mode  Doh !

Will look out for the date for the 15th National. Book the weather though next time

great pics - do miss the Z4 coupes especially! (no offence to the open top rides). Gutted I missed it but I did have quite a bit of fun trying (and stupidly thinking) I could do a two hour journey to the first stop in 50 mins - not sure how and why I thought I could do it!

It was actually quite comical me trying to make the first stop.

I set off well ahead of time in the morning, and Google even provided me with a diversion to avoid the Milk Lorry incident - only to discover the route was also closed by the police with no diversion in place. So after finding a new and somewhat dubious route in the opposite direction of all the traffic - ended up running late.

After Craig give me the location for the first - to which google initially said two hours, but then somehow said 1 hour once I started driving, - I gave myself a challenge. I then got stuck behind a Golf GTI club sport - who for some weird reason decided to drive some awesome roads on the route - at well below the speed limit (literally at 30-40mph - with no safe way to overtake). I then encountered a stop that felt like 20 mins for a cycle race of some sort to come down a single track road. When I did end up at what I thought was the Museum - only to discover it was an waypoint - half way to actual location.

At which time I decided to call it off (I think the universe was telling me something!) Anyway - til next time!
