Thought I'd start this thread to get our Scots brothers and sisters of their arses for the new season :poke: :D
Can't wait to get on the best driving roads in the country :driving: :driving:

All welcome, the border's been open for a few hundred years now...no invitation required :P
Fancying a trip to north Wales at some point as I'd love a go on that humongous Zip line.

Joking aside,I might replicate a trip a few of us did on bikes 5 or 6 years ago......the compass points of Scotland, which are;
North:Dunnett head
East:some lighthouse near Peterhead (Boddam or Buchan??)
South:Mull of Galloway(another lighthouse)
West:Ardnamurchan Point( which unsurprisingly is another lighthouse)
Does this type of trip appeal to the adventurous types?
We started at North and did 1300 miles if I remember correctly.

Stayed in Glasgow last week for a few days with the swmbo but was drinking not driving :D Though I did visit the transport museum which I enjoyed
We had quite a few Scots members who organised hoons but who have moved on to other cars, married or are just plain busy etc so its
been quiet up there and much missed

If youre going west then much nicer road is on the way down the Argyll peninsula to Machrihanish
Not too bad a drive but I'm not thinking about "going west"...I'm thinking about going to the compass points of Scotland which doesn't include the Mull of Kintyre.

Years ago I managed to almost reach Ardnamurchan Point by mistake after missing a turn on the way to Tioram Castle on Loch Moidart.
I was on a GPZ600 and it was a cracking night that the scenery just pulled us in that direction.

Having just bought my first Z4 in December there, I'd been considering starting a Scottish thread suggesting a few get together for the North Coast 500 - I suspect a few of you have prob arranged it in previous years, but having never done it, was hoping to get a few together for it ...

Thoughts? :)

Hi Allan.....yeah,we will need to get something sorted for at least a few meets for this year. I pm,d Andrew p,to see what his thoughts were on doing the Braemar run,and his plans for Scottish meets,as he had said he would be organising things since it had went quiet since the demise of Ally,Adam ,Rob,Nosa etc etc from on here re runs. Not had a reply as yet,but more than happy to help/organise with a meet or 2.

How are things anyway,mate?

Hi Craig I'm spot on pal ! How are you and the Mrs ?
There seems to be quite a few new Scots members recently, hopefully they can take up the slack :poke: :D

Am up for a trip across the border depending on date, and am sure I can persuade paul, Mike and Dave...... Which won't take much am sure haha

Been trying to organise a north 500 run for a while now, but last time i spoke to someone who recently done it, the roads where being worked out and caused a fair bit of stone damage to all vehicles. hopefully it wont be the case so when i arrange it

Thanks for this motivational advice Ray Liotta ! Being a newb here, and having never arranged any sort of route-run like this, had really hoped someone else might take up the role of Kevin Costner !

I have recently become aware that some of the Z4 Englanders may have arranged the NC500 for the next months already, but due to concerns of numbers becoming unmanageable, may have arranged "in secret" via PMs, which I fully understand, since I would imagine that any more than 5 or 6 may make such a NC500 a bit too difficult?

So, I am hereby going to merely cut back some of the cornfield, to start to lay some foundations for this here Field of NC500 Dreams, and propose 2 things:

A) NC500 - List of around 5 or 6 participants:

1) "_Billy_" (Billy) - Z4MC (Glasgow)
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

B) Once list is finalised, send PMs to those to finalise suitable dates etc (maybe aim for around May?)

In the mean-time if anyone has any previous experience of NC500 and suggested hotel-stops (2, 3 or 4 day effort??), and route (clockwise, West Coast route first?) then feel free to contribute here?

What "secret meet" is this....do tell what you have heard about this....whatever happened to people wanting to arrange forum meets that are posted on here for all to see,lol

I don't consider the NC500 to exactly be a "meet" - a meet in a certain single place can obviously be very easy to arrange, where no problem in 30 / 40 or more cars turning up, but for a 500-mile round trip involving hotels etc, I can fully appreciate that any Kevin Costner from south of the border would not want to have to try to deal with arranging everything with loads of folk.

Please - if you are up for being the Scottish Kevin Costner here, then please go for it, and open it up to all !

Stick me down as a possible please :driving:

Might be best to start a new thread titling the trip to gain specific interest for the NC500 , its certainly been on my radar of "to do's)

RE the ideal numbers thing for driving trips as opposed to meets ?
I have to agree 5/6/7 cars is the kind of numbers for pressing on safely & ease of organising stopovers
Any more then getting out of junctions & continually looking to make sure no one has dropped off the back becomes a major part of the drives
