What is the replacement going to be?

You won't like it, that I can guarantee.

The remit for changing the Z4 was:
A more practical car with a hatchback and decent luggage space. It had to be manual (a problem ), be fun to drive and with some 'poke'. It had to not be 'chavvy' (according to my lovely wife), look OK and be in a pretty colour. It also had to have parking sensors front and rear, a decent stereo (she likes shite music at loud volumes) and have sat-nav. It also needed to have decent headlights and electric/heated seats.

My remit was it had to cost less than £30k and be less than 2 years old with very low mileage.

I have fulfilled all the requirements; and some. It is being delivered on Thursday.

20is start from less than £5k on Autotrader. That makes yours quite expensive for someone who's in the market for a 20i.

Unless (and this is the crucial point) they are looking for a late car, with low miles, in Estoril blue.

The reality is that, particularly at this time of year, there aren't loads of people wandering around with massive budgets to buy impractical cars. So the number of people that your car appeals to is REALLY small. And the number who can actually afford to buy it is even smaller.

It's a bind, because it's obviously a lovely car that is worth £12k to you. But sheer numbers means that you may end up waiting a while to find that other person who agrees.

I get what you are saying, and yes, in a slow market at the worst time of year it is not easy to sell.

Problem I have is when I decide to sell a car I instantly emotionally 'check out' from it. It becomes a 'problem' if I can't flog it quickly (in my mind). Previously I have priced cars very keenly so they have sold almost instantly (because everybody loves a bargain car). Doing that has cost me a LOT of money over the past few years. So with this one I decided not to do what I have done before as I am fed up with giving very good cars away! :)

I ONLY buy low mileage, good cars. They cost quite a lot more than an equivalent with higher miles and not so good. That is a fact of life (certainly lately). So I bought this one for a premium. It is still very low mileage so the premium should still apply (just less than before obviously because cars lose money). I WILL lose a significant amount on this car, so don't worry folks! :D
You have a great car Pondrew. As you know; if you can hold on to it until spring you stand a good chance of getting its true worth to the right buyer.

But if you are in a rush then it will go against its true value

I paid way over for my current car due to its condition and service history. However I’m more than happy as I would have spent the same or more trying to get another high mileage car to the same level.

Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Come on Andy. What is it? I can’t stand the tension. One thing I do know. It won’t be green.😀😀😀

Well, he said I wouldn’t like it so it is not German.

Probably something Japanese as I can’t think that even Pondrew would buy British

Beautiful car. If only it was the auto gearbox. As I'm looking for one similar. Hope it finds a new owner very soon.

I can vouch that Andy's cars are exceptionally well looked after, so whomever get this car will be getting a good one.

Stunning looking and personally l think it's well priced , would love to buy this for the wife but unfortunately not it the position to replace it for some time. Seen similar specification cars at similar prices selling on Autotrader.

Hi There,

I am in the market for an older generation Z4. I am trading in my portimao blue 3 series as it’s too large for my new on road parking.

I’m still unsure whether to go for the 2011 6 cylinders or the newer version like yours, however I would be interested providing there is cruise control and possibly a way to connect your smartphone for music? (Could go aftermarket?)

If you could PM me any service details including details on motor changes or coolant pumps and a video etc, that would be great.

Cheers :)

Good to hear it has gone though. The colour and miles and manual make it a very nice car.

An era typically lasts hundreds of millions of years.
This is more the end of another nano blink
