2013 Scotland Meets - Planning and Discussion Thread

Yup, 2012... If you remember I hijacked this ages ago :P

Technically this is fiscal year 2012/2013...

Edit - I should be available for a hoon on the 25th/26th August...probably not the next Scottish meet, but for consideration

I might be available for the 24th Aug. I was planning on organising a Scotland/North England meet the first w/e of Sept 2012. I need to get researching routes, campsites etc.

I thought of that weekend, but for me it probably doesn't work as Wee Bing goes back to school on the 6th and his Mum wants him home for some last minute school clothes and kit sorting out :x

However, happy to take part in trial runs or try and work around whatever is decided if it ends up being September. I shall sit and watch for a while

That August weekend is after the schools go back but is a bank holiday weekend. Hockey season doesn't start until mid-late Sept so I should be around :).

Sounds like a good time for a meet. The past two years we've done the Skye and Islay meets in August. Don't have a rota yet but hope to have it soon.

I'm desperate for another meet!

New avatar JP? Like it :)

Yeah a trip outside of school holidays is probably best, and will mean emptier (ish) roads...

:headbang: just realised, first weekend in September is the start of rugby training next season... Not sure I could miss that as head coach. That August weekend still works though.

When do the Scottish schools go back ? Might need to change thinking on Wee Bing's travel plans if he's to see his cousins...

Thought a change was needed Adam. Got a bit worried when people recognised us as the Z4-forum group from my avatar!

Keen to join another meet but not back from hols till 9th sept & it looks like this will be before then so probably going to miss this one unfortunately.

Scottish schools return Tue 21st August (I only know this for work purposes!)

2012: I'm keen for another couple of meets this year - perhaps one weekender/one-nighter (the cross-border raid?) and surely there's scope for a couple of single-day drives?

2013: I'll happily organise the meet around this time again in 12 months time, if you're happy for a non-Z4 owner doing it all?! Following chat at the weekend, sounds like a 2-nighter to Skye in May 2013 would be very popular...

I will probably be a last minute yes or no on any overnighters as SWMBO and I have various things planned over the summer.

  - Also I'd be happy to host something further south as NY moors seem high on Nosa and Richard G's lists (maybe JP too iirc)

If we want a one day drive, A93 Braemar Road is looking tempting. Meet Perth, up to Aberdeen, then back down again? Would be very simples, and plenty stopping places. I think there's a cafe on the road, and we could stop in Aberdeen?

How about a day run out around Crieff, Aberfeldy, Loch Tay. Maybe across the A9 to Perth & Dundee areas.

Sounds good to me. Who's doing the map? Happy to organise, or at least put a thread together to gather interest? What date? Shall we aim for a Sunday before Jack goes away at the end of August?

That's roughly one of the ideas I had in mind for a day route. Taking in Crieff, Kenmore, etc and possibly going further west too to take in the Dukes Pass at Aberfoyle

That's very kind of you - but I don't expect the date to be cobbled together to suit me. Almost any Sunday in August (not 26th) should be OK for us - though I had hoped to build the Braemar road into a longer run - no problem to do again mind.
