For sale I have my facelift Z4 E85 2.5si Sport, in Black Sapphire, with 6-speed manual gearbox.
You may have seen this already advertised on Ebay? However, the price to forum members is a little lower at £4850. I understand some people may prefer to go through Ebay as that may give them more security: the forum price still stands in that case.
The car sits on genuine MV2 alloy wheels, shod with 225/40 front and 255/35 rear Goodyear Assymetric 3 non-runflat tyres in good condition, with plenty of tread left on each one.
The interior is in red, with the much sought after MSport seats, which are fully heated and manually adjustable. This is the first Z4 I’ve driven with these seats in and the vast improvement in comfort makes it clear why they fetch such a high premium when sold separately.
As you may recall, I was offered this car by Steve (Sidewaze Samm) when I went looking for a project to tide me over until the 3.0i I’d picked up came back from loan to my son-in-law. That car coming back much earlier than expected has led to some domestic discussion of the previously agreed ‘one in, one out’ policy! In truth, Steve’s car wasn’t a true project, in that it has been very well cared for in the past, with several of the important jobs already done. However, it did throw a couple of extra little snippets in for me to deal with!
The car came to me with a fully stamped service book and records of many extra jobs done. The electric water pump was replaced around 6000 miles ago. The differential has received all new seals and new fluid. The roof motor has been relocated into the boot. The brake pipes to the rear have been replaced with copper/kunifer and the flexi pipes to the rear callipers are now braided stainless steel.
In the past couple of months the car has received a lot more attention from me, including the following:
Interior lights upgraded to LED, including the boot.
Washer bottle removed and the filters cleaned.
New red third brake light fitted (Clear one available to swap back if preferred).
Front and rear dampers replaced with OEM Sachs, top mounts replaced with Lemforder, bump stops and dust covers replaced with Febi Bilstein. All the drop links and ARB bushes were inspected and found to be in good condition, as were the brake discs and pads.
Roof cleaned and treated using Autoglym fabric roof conditioner. I’ll be honest; I think it could do with a second go to make it perfect.
Then it threw in its first little test in for me! A selection of ABS lights appeared which were diagnosed as the yaw sensor beneath the driver’s seat. This was replaced with a guaranteed used item (made of Unobtanium, judging by the price!!!). Knowing how these can be affected by damp, I took the precaution of sealing the new sensor in a poly bag, with a sachet of silica gel to keep it company.
Not to be beaten that easily, it also presented me with the dreaded Power Steering light, accompanied by a loss of the Sport button functionality and a complete lack of any codes. I removed the Electric Power Steering motor and sent it to ECU Testing who found a fault in the ECU which confirmed my listed symptoms. The unit was repaired and returned with a Lifetime Warranty.
Whilst fixing these issues I removed the seats and the multi-function steering wheel. These have all had the leather cleaned and been recoloured to bring them back to almost new condition.
The mileage is 112k, which will not increase as the car will remain on my drive until sold.
This car is a real head-turner and an absolute pleasure to drive. It handles perfectly and the engine pulls effortlessly. Whoever buys this will find it calls to you on sunny days, just to go and drive for the sheer fun of it.
Finally, in the interests of full disclosure, you may discover that this car has changed hands 3 times in the last 3 months according to the V5C. This is because I initially sold it to another forum member in my town who for various domestic reasons was encouraged to bring it back 5 days later. Unfortunately the V5C was already being processed.
Some of the photos are ‘stolen’ from the ones Steve sent me back in early February, the rest have been taken since I completed it.
I am happy to forward more detailed information and photos to anyone who expresses an interest.
