1M. Anyone looking

I've started thinking about these a lot.. the rarity value is wonderful & I think it'd go nicely with an MR (if I had the 40k)

When Z4M's dropped to around £14k they had a re-surge in value, I wonder what the low point will be with these - probably more like £25k like the CSLs.

Nice 5k milers are down to £37k now, there's an AUC one near me at £37950 might be worth a punt midwinter if they get to £30k :)
 
I really like both but if push came im not sure really... had a M3 V8 and it was awesome like a train just pulled and pulled. 1M has the rarity factor I like but the interior... the rest looks awesome flared arches I think I would run the 1M or a V8 M3 wouldn't with the Z4Mc want to just run a 1M the Z4Mc is too special.
 
Downsides for me is it's really just a powered up 1 series (BMW's cheapest model) that has ended up expensive and has an interiour featuring halfords orange piping. I'm not convinced by all the suede stuff either, bound to show signs of wear quickly I think. They are rare and will remain so which some appeal. However it doesn't have any special parts,no special M engine.

Would prefer one over the M3 though personally
 
Good 18 month old M3 fully loaded can be had from around 30k. Dad got his new in 2007 paid £65k for it! lost half its value in 3 years :cry:
 
Now you've got me googling what it costs & GST rules to import cars to Australia, sounds like I could almost ship you a couple of M3's & it'd get me a free 1M.

I love the M3V8 but I love the idea of having a 1M with no miles hidden away somewhere, bet the fuel consumption is quite different too. would the 1M have the £450 band Roadtax? Would end up SORN'd I guess..

Alternatively with the ODB stuff I guess I could just steal one :tumbleweed: :driving:
 
The M3 rarely got over 22mpg even with grandad like driving... 18mpg was the norm if I remember rightly, they are renowned for being pretty thirsty! My Z4Mc is much more economical.

Will the 1M not have the £800 tax rate first year then £475 there after?
 
I would have thought BMW crept it in below the highest threshold, which is now more like £475 by the way (renewed mine recently and think that's what I paid)
 
This is a great thread about the guy that picked up the first one from the factory & took it to the Ring then shipped it back to Canada..

Wonder what colour you'd get for the highest residuals, are they only orange white and black?
 
Would personally go with white or orange. THink only available with the black interiour with orange stitching. Black on black I don't like and I also found black body hides the groves/bulges of the 1M. Orange is well orange and not everyone's cup of tea but I do like it myself. So that leaves white which I think it looks great in
 
Thought all new cars in the top tax bracket had to pay the premium now!? Went and had a look at a new M3 and im pretty sure that was the near double first year payment.

That 1M burnt orange is a lovely colour, that would be what I would get.

Although if you get a polisher on this paint it takes the frozen finish off it and reveals the normal colour under. Could be a complete pain to get scratches out, needs a complete rethink in the way you look after your paint.
 
I thought the red was a wrap and not a paint?

Might as well save the extra cost of buying new and get a 3 year old e92 for 50% off the price and wrap it yourself.
 
You can get the wraps.

But the matt finish has become popular so they have designed new frozen effect. Its a new type of paint from BMW, has a matt clear coat hard to look after.

You cant polish it, and usual waxes are not useable! PITA! But looks good. BMW are the only ones able to reproduce the finish atm too and there are very few specialist garages in the UK doing it atm so if you get a ding there is very little you can do uless you spend a fortune at BMW, until the paint becomes mainstream but at the cost doubt it will quickly.
 
I think you might be mistaken tomscott, from what i read i understood it that the "frozen" colours were exactly the same as the rest but WITHOUT the clear-coat that makes them shiny! Frozen Blue is Monte Carlo Blue without the clear-coat.

One of the frozen colours is a wrap, whilst the other two are paint finishes.
An awfully expensive option for a car that's due to be replaced next year.
