Pigeons and Solar panels

Pigeons aka Sky Rats, have decided my Solar Panels are good place to nest.
My gutters are now being filled and I get the ocassional egg smashed on the patio along with nesting debris and bird plop.

I’ve now got to look at a exclusion netting system. :headbang:

I have the necessary equipment in my cabinet but I don’t live in the appropriate location!

I don’t think Pv panels react to No 6 shot very well either!

A local establishment has a kite which looks like a bird of prey which seems to work very well but that is a commercial premises. Don’t suppose the neighbours will be too keen?

There does seem to be a lot of wood pigeons around this year. They do keep my two cats interested though. Yet to catch one but have come close a couple of times resulting in a right mess

I did think about buying a drone?
Seems like a good enough excuse to me - the problem is tho is that these methods only scare off the lookouts- the nesting birds stay put!

This would scare most things

Last year we had sea gulls nesting in the gaps between the chimney pots. One chick fell down and we tried to save it but it died a second fell down the chimney and had to get a gas fitter in to remove the fire to get it out. This one went to the RSPCA, our German Shepherd looked puzzled having it in the house. So this cost us having the chimney swept, caps on pots, fire serviced and the 40 year old central heating boiler that hadn't been serviced for 30 years condemned and a new one fitted. All in all quite pricey. And they are back this year :headbang:

That makes £300 (ish) for some exclusion mesh, makes it look like I am getting off quite lightly!

Can't you just buy an air rifle ronk and safely prevent it from happening?

Then I will have dead pigeons in the gutters!

The problem is that they nest under the Pv panels while the others stay as look outs.

That’s the only real solution to the problem - lm waiting of the local Handyman to get back to me for a cost to fit.
There is a local firm of roofers who have quoted me £390 all done including getting rid of the current crop of sky rats and their nests.

I’ve had PV panels for about ten years and it’s only last year they’ve started nest and become nuisance. I think they are hiding from the Magpies!

Im going to contact the local firm and have them install the mesh asap as the local Handyman seems to want only the bigger jobs these days.

Apart from the gutters filling and debris on the patio, I'm getting sick of the constant coo coo coo - so £395 is starting to look like a bargain

The fella fitted the mesh this afternoon and Ive watched some very brassed off pigeons trying to get back home
