Goodbye for now!

As you may or may not have seen in my previous thread, I planned on trading in my coupe to wewantanycar.com as their offer seemed fair.

I then planned on buying a cheaper car and using the rest of the money to spend on my house.

That plan has well and truly failed ! I am now the proud owner of this:

You only live once and all that! I'm 28 now and on car number 20, and this is by far the best I have ever had! Full black perforated extended leather, 59k miles, FSH, nav etc.

Traded the Z4 in towards it. I got £7650 for my coupe which I was happy with given the hassle free sale and the mileage, and it is now on autotrader to the tune of £9499! Worth every penny IMO but quite a mark up. I suppose thats just the way it is.

Anyway, brief first impressions of the Cayman are that it feels slightly less powerful and eager than the coupe (I have the 2.7 model) but the delivery is smoother and provides an overall more enjoyable experience in terms of sharper handling, softer ride, lovely noise from the flat 6 over your left shoulder and zero rattles which my Z4 seemed to have a few of. Theres also the looks which can divide opinion but I have always wanted a tin top Porsche and I couldn't be happier.

I genuinely almost had a tear in my eye as I looked back at my Z4 companion of the last 2 years. 2 enjoyable years of faultless driving and I still maintain that you can not find a better car for the money than a 3.0si Coupe.

So its goodbye for now and thanks to all for the advice and problem solving tips along the way :driving:

If I were looking to trade in my Zed a Cayman would definitely be high on the list. Beautiful looking cars and tight as a drum. Never driven one but by all accounts they are a delight. Well done

Nice car .. But bold on here saying it's the best car you've ever owned... Good luck.

Haha. Good point. But I maintain it is still be best car I have owned. No doubt there are better cars and indeed better Z4's than my Cayman, but I only have my previous Z4 to compare against, and of course it is all just my opinion! :fuelfire:

Still a great looking car a Cayman & very much like a E86 in that they don't show their age at all
Thought it was your Z on the web at £9500 , mentioned it on here last night

Fantastic looking car that I've considered myself, must be honest & admit to being put off with tales of engine woes :o
Hope it's a solid car for you

They do look great and I share your concerns to be honest.

I called a local specialist before purchase and they conviced me it would almost certainly be fine as failure rates of the IMS bearing are very low indeed, and bore scoring is more likely on the 3.4S (though not impossible on the 2.7) . Given its good history etc I took the plunge.

Time will tell I suppose and I will just enjoy it as I did the Z4 8)

Good look with the new porker. You do indeed only live once. Bought my first car at 27 as we had our second baby on the way.
