What have you done to your E89 today

Technically this was yesterday, however I was pretty exhausted by the end of it, so I'm posting today. With family out of town, I took the opportunity to give my Z4 a wash, tyre cleaning, clay bar, polish and ceramic coating - the first time I've ever done the last 3 items for any car. It was a...

Roof sorted - now on to the Diff Whine

In any case, thanks for the advice. Going to change the tires in the next couple of weeks and see! The whirring noise is definitely still there - sounded almost like it was coming from the front left of the car when driving the other day. Can't make heads nor tails of it.

Roof sorted - now on to the Diff Whine

This is my thinking. I havnt noticed a performance impact, but then I dont have driving experience with a Z4 before this one. Once in my old Tiburon on a road trip in my college days, I blew a rear tire in the middle of nowhere, Colorado. Limped across the border to BFN, Kansas to the nearest...

Roof sorted - now on to the Diff Whine

Update. Taken it for a drive, after a few mins of driving, whine reappears as before. &$*@*$. I think next is to change the two rear tires. One is run flat and one is not - the other non-runflat got a puncture last year before I bought the car and was replaced with a run flat. I'm wondering...

Roof sorted - now on to the Diff Whine

After a recent failure of my Z4's roof and a fruitless attempt to sort it ourselves, I had to take it in to a local shop on @True-Blue 's recommendation to get it sorted. They did so at a very reasonable cost, so I was impressed enough to have them tackle the next thing I wanted to look at -...

    E89 Spotted - 16th February 2019 onwards

Just a note - ever since buying my Z4, I'm forever pointing out one's I see when driving around Bristol, be they E85s, 86s, 89s or G29s. Thankfully, despite a litany of "......oooh Z4!" interruptions to doubtlessly more important conversations, my wife hasn't shown exasperation yet. A true sign...

What is this little gear thing?

I reckon you're right! The little drawer hatch to the right of the steering wheel isnt damped now, I wonder if it had popped out at some point but sat inside the panel until we opened the panel and then it fell out. Sounds like it to me. Thanks mate!

What is this little gear thing?

We're at the Welsh Zedshed looking at my roof, and while waiting for it to reset, we went to swap out a clutch speed sensor that was throwing a code. On removing the panel under the steering column to access the sensor, I saw a little plastic piece pop out, but i didn't see where it went...

Rear Tyres - Are 255/30R19's considered unobtanium?

Doesn't that mess up the speedometer/Odometer?

Rear Tyres - Are 255/30R19's considered unobtanium?

Not an immediate need, but since my other family car needs a couple rear tires ahead of the MOT, I thought I'd start looking for new rear tyres on my E89. Currently it's got Goodyear F1 Eagle Asymmetric 5's on it, but the rears (255/30R19) need a swap in that they are both running down for...

Quick one - does opening the door whilst also opening the roof cause a known malfunction?

Cheers, thank you! I'll see what comes up once I can get to the zedshed and have the codes read

Quick one - does opening the door whilst also opening the roof cause a known malfunction?

Update. Got it all closed without releasing the pressure. On one of the give-it-time and try again efforts, in pressing the close button I got the roof panel to go all the way up and nearly closed. Next attempt after turning the car on and off, it closed all the way through, no issues. I'm just...

Quick one - does opening the door whilst also opening the roof cause a known malfunction?
