    n52 plug change interval

I'm sure this has been asked many times, but I'm getting conflicting info! Plugs in my e86 were last changed 5 years/22000 miles ago. It's being serviced soon, should I be putting new plugs in? Some people seem to say every 5 years, some say they are good for 100000 miles.

e86 unused plug behind centre console?

I've just had all the centre console out to wrap the ali panels. When I've come to put it all back together, I have a spare plug behind the panel where the ashtray and heated seat, DSC etc buttons are? I can't see anywhere that it plugs into, so I was wondering if it's just a redundant plug that...

What have you done to your car today?

Finished a few interior bits today, replaced one of the rear speakers while I had the interior out, and just refitted it all back after wrapping all the ali trim panels, and repainting the plastics around the gear and brake levers, as it was all looking a bit tatty. I think the previous owner...

    DIY cruise problem

Just had a look, it has. The board looks like this: It's slightly different to yours. I've noticed the part number is different on the sticker on the back, so wondering if I've just got the wrong one, maybe they changed them, as mine is still for an X3/X5, e53/e83. I've just gone through...

    DIY cruise problem

I've been trying to fit cruise control to my E86, using the srhutch loom, and following Usel's DIY cruise control stalk instructions. I've got the loom fitted okay(I think), and have made the wires for the stalk, and have fitted it, but it's not working. Stupidly, I unplugged the LCM before I...

    Handbrake cable removal/lever replace

Sorry, another handbrake question! I've just got a good second hand lever assembly to replace mine. I've seen the method where you can replace it from in the car, but can you release the cable and reattach from solely within the car, without touching the adjusters at the rear wheel? Just trying...

    Brake pad fitting

This is most probably an easy question! I'm getting the parts ordered for a brake refresh, and was going to get ATE Ceramic pads front and rear. Do I need a fitting kit for both axles? I can't find an ATE fitting kit on Autodoc, are they all compatible, as there are other makes of fitting kits?

Just for reference, here's a pic of it finished and fitted.

What have you done to your car today?

Finished fitting the double din stereo conversion last night. All working with steering wheel controls, but couldn't get the DAB to work, so still need to work that out. Added a microphone holder and usb on the panel under the climate controls.

    Double DIN fascia for e85/e86

****SOLD**** I have a spare double din fascia for an e85/e86 for sale. It's 3d printed, and it was straight from the printer so needs to be finished by sanding and painting. It retains the airflow from the vents, although you can't turn it off or direct it. It needs a shallow depth stereo to...

    Door speaker wiring

I'm planning on fitting some door speakers by tapping in to the tweeters, and wanted to confirm the wiring, as I don't want to wire them in wrong! Am I correct in thinking that it should be added in like this?

Do I need really low viscosity brake fluid?

Sorry for a brake fluid question! I'm off on a euro trip later this year, so mountain passes, but no track days. I'm going to renew the brakes, keep the discs standard, and thinking of ATE Ceramic pads, and was planning on getting Motul RBF600 fluid, but I see we should run low viscosity fluid...

    OEM microphone with aftermarket headunit

Just had a quick check online, mine has this cluster fitted: this must be yours? I guess they are interchangable? I could just swap to one with the space for the mic then.

    OEM microphone with aftermarket headunit

I've just ordered a double din fascia to fit a Pioneer head unit I have gathering dust in the loft. My E86 has the factory hands free kit fitted with the microphone on the steering cowl. Does anyone know if this is useable with an aftermarket head unit? I don't know where the OEM mic plugs in...

o2 sensor errors after exhaust change

Just had my exhaust changed, a cat back system, and the car has now thrown 2 errors, a P0036 and a P0056 (Sensor 2 on both banks). I'm wondering if during the exhaust change, with all the drilling and grinding to get the old bolts off, if the vibrations may have damaged both sensors? I've tried...
