What have you done to your E89 today

I feel like I had my pants pulled down on the cost (£200!) but they are based next door to the garage and use full Hunter laser alignment gear. Given the readings before the alignment, I’m glad it was done.
Gulp, I was whinging last year when a garage charged me £102 for the privilege. Found a closer one that charges only £72. Both hunter/laser systems. Maybe I should stop whinging 😁

Least it'll drive better and stop scrubbing the tyres now!

Replacement rack fitted and all working well!

MoT passed with a small advisory on my front brake lines (slight kinking due to fitment of F30 Brembos. Requires tweaking on the chassis side).

4 wheel alignment completed and she drives beautifully! I feel like I had my pants pulled down on the cost (£200!) but they are based next door to the garage and use full Hunter laser alignment gear. Given the readings before the alignment, I’m glad it was done.

Here’s the before and after of the rear, just as an example:

Congratulations Matt!

Nothing major this weekend — just fitted some locking wheel bolts to my E89.

When I bought the car a few months ago, I noticed it didn't have any, and I thought it was probably worth doing. I just don't want to come back to the car one day in a public car park and find it sitting on bricks! 😅

I went for the original BMW locking wheel bolts. I also made a short video showing how I fitted them, the exact set I bought, and the correct tightening torque, in case it's useful to anyone else. The video is in Spanish, but YouTube's automatic translation does a pretty good job and should make it easy enough to follow.

Interesting.

I’ve typically gone the other way and removed locking wheel nuts, due to past failures with deformed locking key. In the UK at least, the days of OEM wheels being stolen from older cars seem to be behind us.

Replaced the auto-dimming passenger wing mirror.

But decided to save myself £350 and swerve the monochromatic option and fitted one with standard glass.

Not so much the car itself, but I used Claude AI to create a full service record. I uploaded photos of the service book, invoices that have been passed on from previous owners, screenshots of the MOT history and locations. Vcheck details from before I bought the car.

It's pulled it all together, created an HTML page that has catalogued everything chronologically and shown me how it all marries up. It really illustrates the car story.

I understand this might come across as a bit nerdy lol.
