Not sure if Iam allowed to advertise it here but wanted to let any forum members know, who are on the lookout for a z4m roadster.

Beginning of last year I got this in a PH auction. So far I've fitted an Eisenmann Race exhaust system, sorted the missing headlight washer, full service with all fluids changed, new engine mounts, tidied the bodywork up a little bit, replaced the tired badges and cracked 3rd brake light and fitted a Pioneer screen with CarPlay etc.

I've got an ESS supercharger to go on and I need to do some work on the suspension and brakes to go along with that... work in progress, I've only done 1,000 miles in it since March 2025 but with the weather we've been having it's encouraged me to get cracking. That and it's £2k+ every 10k miles to service my daily car so using it pays for itself!

I'll take some decent pictures tomorrow.

I need to replace all 4 tyres really, they're the same ones it had one when I bought it, hard and starting to crack.

What are the recommendations for tyres?

I'm sure I have read about your daily car on another forum - the colour really stands out!

Tyre choices tend to cause endless debate with fans of every brand. Michelin MPS4, 4S, MPS5 all have fans but my MC came with MPSS and they were laughably hopeless in cold/damp conditions so I have no confidence in overpriced Michelin options.

Goodyear Asy get good feedback on here too. I put Kumho Ecstas on my M Coupe in 2021 and they were fine, although when the rears needed replacing last year I got Hankook Ventus which seem even better in the wet.

But with a supercharger your MR will be ballistic!
 
I've always been a fan of Goodyear tbh, F1 Asy6 being what I was thinking but wanted some feedback from others. At the moment it's VERY tail happy on the old tyres it's on now. They need to go before the supercharger is used or it'll be laughably dangerous.

I'm AB on PH, that'll be where you know me from, I've been knocking around there for 20 years :-)

I've had GY Asymmetrics in various guises for years on my RS4. It was my daily driver almost a decade ago, and saw all weather from 30+C through torrential rain to snow. My experience is that they are fantastic wet or dry until they wear below 2-3mm, at which point the wet grip falls off a cliff. They were utterly hopeless in snow. It's now a car that is used only intermittently when I'm in Europe, often being stored for a year at a time. Age and oxidation have not significantly reduced the tyre performance, although wear means that they are almost due to be replaced. My likely choice will be the current iteration of GY.

My Zed has track tyres that are barely more than cut slicks. However, the weather here is more binary with dry days or torrential rain. Days (or weeks) of drizzle are uncommon, so its easy to find opportunities to use it despite my ridiculous tyre choice. On a hot dry day, it sticks like poo to a blanket!

I've seen you on PH too, and I seem to recall you have something else rather nice. Is it an Aston Martin, or have I hallucinated that?

Your Zed looks great. Are you fitting the supercharger yourself?

I have a 911 Turbo S, Taycan Turbo S and the Bentley along with the Z4, with the Z4 being the one that's the most fun on days like today. Always arrive at the office in a great mood when you combine the Z with the weather!

Certainly won't be fitting anything myself, my brother is a mechanic, ex BMW master-tech so he'll be doing it. I struggle hanging pictures.
 
Another vote for the Goodyears, especially if you are trying to calm it down in the wet.

Great tyres, although most premium brands a decent these days. Conti 7s get great reviews, but I've never liked Conti's in the past, so haven't tried.

Ah yes, it was the Taycan that I had turned into an AM. My wife has a 4S, so it catches my eye if someone mentions theirs.
I commute as often as possible in an Exige or my Zed, it’s the best way to travel! I only use a sensible car if I’m covering several hundreds of kilometres and need to be able to hear when I arrive!
 
My Z4M had MPSS fitted when I collected it on a cold, drizzly December day and their wet grip was laughably hopeless, although they were great on a dry summer day so not too often!

I only planned to use it as a fun car, but all year round so I couldn't wait to fit some tyres that would work all year.
 
I seem to recall having Avon in the main many years ago but haven't had them for a while so I'm not against them.

I'm also not that concerned about wet weather performance as it's not a car I'll be driving around in the wet.
