I think this is the first G29 I've seen listed for sale on here... so it's quite fitting that it's a first post from a new member, brief advert and sarcastic responses 😂

Does it really matter if he has just joined and wants to sell his car. It could be the car that a Forum Member could be interested in buying so I don’t see the problem.

No not at all, but then if one joins just to take advantage of our free of charge advertising feature, you should expect a little bit of tongue and cheek as part of that service. Well In the case of enuff_sed, oodles of sarcasm :)

Anyway, hello and welcome Viv, GLWTS, when you get the opportunity, perhaps more photos and some history may aid your cause

Actually this is obviously not a very nice forum to be in and I will take the hint and leave. I would like to say it’s been a pleasure but it has fuelled people’s boredom

It’s just a bit of banter Viv, no one has asked you to leave, you don’t need to do that, Sars has said it all so you’re fine. 👍

You know nothing of the forum or how it operates and if you can't take sarcastic critiscm for what is a very poor advert for a £20k+ car then goodbye.

It never ceases ro amaze me how easily offended new members are that essentially join the forum just to list their car.

How did you find the forum, what have been told about the details potential buyers are looking for? Short of rolling out the red carpet if you found the for sale section take some time to look at the other adverts to familiarise yourself with what good looks like.

Alternatively just chuck your teddy out and do one 👍

It’s how this Forum has become unfortunately
Sadly it is getting that way. :(

Which is a shame as this was generally a much better place than most other forums, or even fora, and I'd really like it to stay that way.

Anyway welcome Viv (even if you are leaving) and GLWTS.

I'd argue the opposite and if feedback can't be received in the way it was intended that's a shame.

Alas in most things long-term membership and contribution seems to count for very little these days.

Any questions or issues with my car this forum is invariably where I come - I'd be loathed to see it become more like Facebook Marketplace 😕

How does Viv or other new members know what is expected of them without our guidance. I just think it’s wrong to jump all over someone just because they join to sell a car, so what if they do I’m sure if the car was a great deal Forum members would be all over it. I have also seen posts on FB where someone is selling and they’ve been pointed to this Forum.

Ok, I have misaligned quite a few noses it seems...................... as usual.
So here's my rationale:
I would like to think that I am sensible enough to realise that jumping onto a long-established forum simply to sell a car without paying fees is going to be seen as opportunistic, and attract a degree of sarcasm.
I would therefore take some time to peruse the forum, learn a little about how it operates and the general attitude that prevails. Then I would make an introductory post, explaining what I was here for and respectfully seeking acceptance. Having done that, I would then construct a meaningful advert, with plenty of detail.

As an established member, I have in the past greeted new members who have done this, and tried to advise them on the best way to approach such an advert. I have also taken the time to thank them for their polite approach and wish them well.

People who treat this forum like Facebook Marketplace are, in my opinion, the ones who denigrate it, not the ones who call them out for it.

Well said just a shame it needed saying but at least it serves as a good summary of how the the forum should and in most cases does operate.

On a slightly more serious note calling out these type of ads will hopefully ensure the type of unscrupulous sales which abound on Marketplace does not progress very far on the forum.

As a general forum it’s very good with some very good knowledgeable members. However the classified side seems to be quite negative, often sarcasm for poor ads or if someone has just joined to advertise their car. Personally feel the sarcasm does not give a good impression of what is overall a good forum.
