What have you done to your car today?

After doing my thermostat housing, I had a few days of no water on the under shield.
Then I noticed another leak, this time it was the radiator.
So I fitted a new one yesterday. (Top photo)

The old rad still fine, until I removed it.

The side you see in the car, looked in good condition, the other side, which is against the AC rad, was in a terrible state.

Laid out all of the parts to rebuild the rear end + front strut assembly, ready to split them into the parts needed for each section of the car/job. (Just waiting on a couple of parts from LLLparts and my Eibach springs are still in the garage loft, but otherwise that's all of it!)

Looks like a lot of work. :)
 
Got the rear diff oil and gearbox oil replaced on my 3.0si today in prep for my first trackday in it. Not sure if its a placebo, the UK heat or if it is actually the change but gearshifts definitely feel smoother, less like there is interference. Will see when I drive the car from cold.
 
Nothing exciting today. Changed the passenger side halogen halo bulb. Was a 5 minute job with the genuine bulb from BMW.

Cleaned inside and outside of the Access flap too. Now I have to remove and do the rest of the liner 😂

Steering Lock inward.
Jack up.
Twist lock the flap off with a coin.
Unspring the clip (used the socket extension bar for leverage),
pull the rear of the light cover towards the wheel,
then slide it out of the arch as it has a tab towards the centre grill,
twist the bulb holder 1/8 turn counter clockwise,
Pull it out,
disconnect the cable.

Then reverse to put it back together.

Really simple. Seems to me people are massively over complicating it!

Did you go with the BMW high friction diff fluid?
 
First time the Z4 has let me down. I’ve done a good amount of preventative maintenance recently for my Nurburgring trip.

I had a minor breakdown on the A303 on the way to the Ring. Suddenly very bad misfiring, no warning lights.

I think one of the coil packs failed. Couldn’t seem to correct it by reseating the coils.
 
Got my favourite cleaning product of all time. Second to a retrim, nothing better out there. Top half of steering wheel done, I use a jay cloth to protect everything else from over spray of the cleaner. Then use an LRC soft brush to rub it into the leather, followed by wiping off with a Terry towel. I have the cream protectant to go of later from LRC too. Seeing as the old girl is transporting me, my lad and all our camping gear to Le Mans again next weekend, for the anniversary of our first trip in 2006, I thought I'd better replace the leaking nearside engine mount.
Backed the car out of the garage onto the driveway and 90 minutes later the job was done and two new Meyle engine mounts are keeping the engine where it should be

Fitted a 3d printed drinks holder it's actually pretty cool! And some netting for the boot to stop s**t falling about, oh and a sexy new cherry air freshener for California scents lol

Then lots of wax and cleaning as usual because being OCD with my car is a way of life 😎
 
Fitted another Chinese made stop / brake light in the boot.
The last one I bought (also made in China) has lasted seven years until a work colleague pointed out to me yesterday morning that not all the LEDs were lighting up.
That one cost £26 in 2019. This new one cost me £15 from UK based upgradeautoparts and it arrived in less than 24 hours after I ordered it on ebay.
