Bit the bullet and ordered a new wind deflector from BMW. The headrest meshes and brackets are in place, annoyingly the previous owner sold the centre one prior to me purchasing.
EBay searches for a used one, breakers and forum classifieds proved fruitless, so took advantage of a 20% off voucher on eBay to bring the price down.
I’ve read varying accounts on how effective it actually is, but getting it more for completeness rather than anything else!

A productive Sunday!
- Replaced both tail lights for shiny new OEM versions - with the car having been garaged most of its life, they were more filled with dirt and dust than water—really simple job (if I hadn't had to fish out one of the push clips from the depths of the boot when it pinged off).
- Car up on axle stands so I could remove all four wheels, which are going for full refub tomorrow - bye bye diamond cut.
- Removed front and rear pressed plates and prepped area for replacement of local dealer plates with its new reg
- Sanded and resprayed the rattle clips on the front brakes; both had some surface rust.
- Gave the front and rear brakes a quick clean and tidy.
Leakyturnip, may I enquire as to how on earth do you extract yourself from your Z4 once in your lovely but quite narrow garage. I need to park mine 6 feet away from anything before falling out with as much style as my old body can muster.
With some difficulty! Like this the drivers door opens almost to the first notch and the wall has padding so the door doesn't get damaged. Ooooohhh they look sooo good..!All finished. Just have to cure now. I’ll pop them in the oven on a baking tray with grease proof paper for 30 mins gas 80 degrees once the wife goes out. Works a treat

- seal the 3rd hole that isn't used anymore with newer tail lights? BMW offers a round label for it, a waterproof tape from both sides would be sufficient as well. Partnumbers:

I did, although not using the above, but using some extra strength gorilla grip stormproof duck tape on both sides of the hole. I expect that should do the trick!
I also tripple checked the seals to make sure they were seated correctly too. So fingers crossed we're good for another 16 years!

So as this has niggled my OCD I checked a colleagues car which is a 2017 1 Series. Both front and rears are as mine are. So if BMW were happy, I can live with it. I was prepared to re-do one of them but I will save my time and money.
But I do get your point.
Swapped out the salmon relays for some shiny new ones sourced from BMW dealer. 5 minutes job

And realised these were the originals from my Jan 2010 build!
Bought two of these bags from Amazon to fit on shelf for a bit more storage for odds and sods.
Good quality, Velcro strips on base and rear hold them firmly in place.
Got ice scraper, small tyre compressor, boost pack etc in them. Happy for the £12 I paid for the two.
