What have you done to your car today?

Changed my OEM strut mounts for brand new Febi strut mounts. Nearly 180,000 miles on the original mounts… they were cracked and pushing through the rubber and I was scared it was going to shoot through and damage my hood at one point… kind of dangerous tbh.

It’s been making weird noises, squeaks, clunks, etc.

I have coilovers, so thankfully I didn’t need spring compressors to swap out the strut mounts.

I've had quite some issues these last two months after I got my car back from the shop for an odd overheating issue (which eventually lead to a quite involved head gasket replacement job). Things like sudden power loss, juddering, the trifecta of lights coming on, loss of power steering, odd buzz in the radio, you name it. I've strongly suspected that it wasn't anything mechanical, but that it was something electronic. Luckily the shop acknowledged that the issues I've been having are the result of the head gasket job, without understanding why and on and off have troubleshot the car and replaced or fixed small things they found.

After yet another 2 day trip to the shop, I finally got word today that they've found the issue. Turns out it was two bolts that made ground somehow. They replaced the bolts, sorted out the grounding, and now everything seems completely solved. Odd story on one hand, but glad to have it sorted. So glad to have my car back in fully working order!

Just gave the old girl a proper clean while it's sunny. Off on a trip to the lakes for a few days. Still think this is the best looking model, then again I'm biased!

Today, I collected my car, drove it home and parked it in the garage.

Front bumper resprayed, rear wing fitted, various other areas have also had paint attention and polished.
All taken care of by Phil at Revive and Refinish. https://www.coventryceramics.com/

Phil can take care of whatever your requirements are, be it full strip down bare metal resprays or just bespoke areas.

Phil can also be reached via Coventry Classic Car Club.

Am I allowed to post the details of the chap that did the work?
You must be really pleased with that, it looks superb.

No problem posting details of whoever did it, people are often looking for a good bodyshop!

Thank you, I am. I've edited my original post.

It wasn't a full respray, just the specific worst parts that stood out. There are plenty of other blemishes that I had to weigh up on a was it worth it basis. This time last year it was in bits on my home made ramps doing the mechanicals myself.
Next up is a trip to Newcastle for a bonnet swap and also to the reading area to take up an offer of a day in a workshop to do my front suspension. All ready for show season.

Dropped it into Birds this morning to get a Quaife LSD fitted and the gearbox oil changed whilst they were under it. Really impressed with their service, super easy to book in, happy to chat cars and setup, and was done within the day as expected even though the exhaust bolts fought back apparently. (Well, she is 19 years old with 138k on the clock.)

Back home now, had some empty stretches on the A41/A529 where I could push it through the corners a bit and I'm really impressed. It's not magical, can break traction and make the DTC limit the throttle to rescue it, but it properly pushes through a corner in a way the open diff didn't.

Super happy I got it done at the start of the year, need to put some miles on it now.

I fancy doing this at some point too. Birds are just up the road from me and it seems they price quite competitively.

Surprised that with the Quaife you still can break away..I must be a pussy..

I was a bit surprised as well, although I put it down to being cold/loose road surface. (Air temp was about 6°C.) Went out on wet back roads today to have a sensible play around and couldn't get it to break traction in a straight line doing 0-60 anymore, previously it would try and spin a wheel before changing up to second. Putting one wheel on mud/in puddle and pulling away smartish has some traction loss but still goes forward.

Really feels a lot more planted and secure in the wet overall, although with DTC half-off you still can overpower it in corners and get the back to step out fairly predictably. Fun when intending to do that. Certainly stops the traction light cutting in pushing on with DTC fully on, so it's getting more traction. Pretty damn happy with it.

I feel better..

Yup if you haven’t felt the strange reassurance of a torque sensing diff you have missed out on one of the great powertrain advances…I can only assume it’s the shear cost that limits their ubiquitous use…

I hardly ever see any traction lights even unleashing 550bhp..

The difference in the wet especially bumpy corners is amazing…

Paid another £395 road tax for the privilege of another 12 months of petrol fuelled pleasure all being well.

Bought new DISA- valve (for spare), FOCAL AS3 165 speakers, new relays for GM5. BAD thing is that car is mileas away killing winter and I cant do anything to it. We have here -18 celsius...

Fitted my new and X8R modified Disa valve.
Went for a drive, then decided to wash it which naturally triggered the rain,so it went back in the garage wet.
