Hello All,
I am writing to discuss an issue related to transmission
1) I have been experiencing the following error on my E89 35i; please see picture.
When I go easy on the car all good, then, but not every single time, the message start to pop after a few pull offs, or when the car is idling in parking mode.
2) This has been going on for some time, as I said, on and off; but recently after the “transmission temperature” error pops, the car prevents me from changing gear and keeps itself on gear 1, if I switch to 2-7, the instrument cluster register the switch but mechanically nothing happens. Following to this the car was jerking a bit and also another error popped (Engine Fault reduced power – possible to continue your journey)
At this point I pull over wait give or take 30 minutes. I turn the car back on and like nothing happens.
The cycle repeat itself if for some time I start to do pulls off or keep the car on idle stationary in parking mode.
The car is over 100k, been looked after all the time. However, I was meant before covid to change the gearbox oil and all of the transmission filters, and also the flywheel.
I think this the pretty much what is causing this, but I would like some feedback from those seasoned members I have been in contact with in the past years, for which I have always appreciated their feedback.
3) For the change of sensor, I think this must be the one: 28107842851 (RPM and temperature sensor - GS7D36SG)
However, in schedule of the newTIS (28 10 020 - Removing and installing or replacing combination sensor GS7D36SG), there is not a lot of guidance. It just states to remove the transmission and preliminary.
Please can you advice on the above 3 points, possibly in a point-by-point fashion to avoid ambiguity and multiple replies for clarification etc.
Many thanks
