Another e85 roof issue 😵‍💫

Unless there is a dodgy connection in the module plug and disturbing it is making it work again for a while?

Damn. I wasted your time, sorry.
I’ve changed several control modules. Never needed any form of pairing.
Not at all bud. I wanted to check anyway. Sure enough there was a kink where you said it'd be.

Going to put the rest of the bits back now...only finger tight...till I'm sure 😂

If you drop the trim under the footwell you'll see two purple relays on the front bulkhead. Those are the roof relays.

Bloody car

Roof not working again....but i have a red light.

Roof wasn't opening with the key in the door so I tried a window reset but think it needs redoing.

Do you have a method you use.

Thanks

In car, doors shut. Lower drivers window, when it gets to the bottom press and release the button four times within 10 seconds. Then raise the window and repeat the four clicks up in ten seconds. Do the same with the passenger window.
See if the roof works with the windows lowered first.

Tried it but didn't work.

Definitely to do with the window sequence though as the roof works when the windows are lowered slightly.

I've seen loads of different resets so guess I need to find the one that works on this pile of crap 💩 😅

Thanks bud.

Once I get this one properly ticked off, it'll be the turn of the flashing lights but no sound from the siren conundrum when alarm triggered 😂
That could just be someone disconnected it.
Though I seem to remember there is a coding option to have no sound too?

So close to putting a sledge hammer to this car.

Roof working fine last night. Hasn't moved from it's spot in the garage.

Didn't work at first this morning...then did....and now doesn't again.

Always the same symptoms....no lights on the roof switches when pressing.

So frustrating 😫

It MUST be a bad connection somewhere. It's finding where that is the difficult bit, as you well know.
It isn't unheard of for pins to become loose or corroded in connectors and/or relay bases.

I understand the sledge hammer temptation; cars drive me mental.....often.

So apart from wiring, the only thing you haven't changed are the two relays, is that right?
Where are you?
I have spares.

I've just taken the 3rd roof module out, put the original one back in and disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes.

Reconnected the battery and the roof is working again....for now 😒

You know when you get the the stage that you just dont trust the car and nothing that you've done actually pinpoints the issue.

Feel like screaming 😱

If you haven't already looked at them, drop the passenger side footwell trim under the glovebox and check those two relays. If the scuttle panel fills up with leaves you can get water leaking past the pollen filter intake and the relays are right under that. I've just dug out two spares (they are both the same), so let me know if you need them.

The fact that every time you disturb the system it starts working again would definitely suggest an electrical connection issue somewhere. Definitely no codes showing? Sounds daft, but no random codes for speed sensors? Just on the off-chance the car thinks it's moving too fast to operate the roof.

No

No codes at all.....apart from a historic boot latching that I can't seem to shift.
Boot shuts properly. Opens via the manual key, fob and interior switch by the bonnet release.

That's a very kind offer...re the relays. Just going the drop the panel and take a look.

In other news it would appear that I have 3 working roof modules and a spare roof switch 😂

Looks pretty clean under there. Assume it's the 2 purple ones

Instead of crawling around the footwell of the shitbox (e85) I could be out roof off in one of my other toys 😂
