What have you done to your E89 today

Thankfully, im covered through my insurance. Autoglass don't have any screens in stock, but will schedule the repair when they do. Anyone know if the screen is bonded in?

Dropped the Fuchs Pro-Race ester based oil and put in some common or garden API-SN/SN+ to use as a detergent wash and keep the internals clean and acid free over the winter..

Lovely Mahle filter..

I'll inspect the old one tomorrow and send the oil of for analysis.

The airbox filter didn't look that bad but amazing amount of road dirt in the bottom of the filter box...need the Dyson to get it all out..

I switched the heated screen on, then after it had cleared, switched it back off, then 2 mins later.....BANG!!!

Your guess is as good as mine 🤷
I had this happen on a 2016 Silverado 1500. It was due to a short in the connection on the sliding rear window. They had put out a service bulletin and ended up covering mine under warranty. The "explosion" was preceded by a sizzling sound. The short created a hot spot that cause the window to spontaneously stress relieve. Pretty scary when it happens.

Took a million photos to send to my insurance company after they worked out that several years ago I requested a quote to include a remap.

It's the same private plate, but that was a white 2011 car and this is a black 2015 car! They must've thought I'd insured this car without declaring a remap......thats cos it's a different car!

One of the required pictures was of the engine bay....even the insurance guy said they couldn't tell from the pictures if it's been remapped!

Funnily enough, I decided to remove the rest of the shattered glass today, and it looked a bit scorched around the heating terminals.

So today I took off the rear prototype BBK parts and carefully inspected them for any signs of failure / distress…

All’s well..smothered everything in blue loctite when assembled after an initial loosening of a bolt ..boy it makes it hard work to undo..even after you’ve cracked the nut..

You can see how the Nordlock hardened steel lock washers bite even to the steel bracket..

Very pleased to see that the pad sweep is perfect and the combo of Ferodo DS2500 pads and F01 7 series 370mm disc are all good.

So about 5,000 miles and all well…

Just finishing off painting the production version of the brackets prior to fitting those.IMG_0806.jpegIMG_0805.jpegIMG_0796.jpegIMG_0804.jpegIMG_0797.jpeg

Fitted a pair of Kicker CWRT672 6.75" CompRT Shallow Mount subs in the footwells. Big improvement!

I had been eyeing this very speaker but didn't bite the bullet over fitment concerns. Did the stock footwell plastics fit over the speaker and does the cone vibrate against it? Were these the 2 ohm dual voice coils. Safe to assume you wired it in series to match the existing 4 ohm speakers? Does anyone know if the stock amp is stable at ohm loads below the factory speakers?

Got the car off the ground yesterday to inspect underneath. I thought I had an engine oil leak... turns out the transmission pan is leaking. PO had it repaired by a local Euro car specialist not that long ago. Hopefully they will honor the warranty. Took the wheels off. Bled the brakes (stuff that was in there looked nasty). Good news is that the engine was dry as a bone. No oil leaks anywhere (yes, I know I just jinxed myself). Now to get that trans pan taken care of. Still need new rear tires and a coolant service. No idea when the coolant was changed last.

The stock footwell plastics fit over them no probs with no vibrating against them. Yes, these are the dvc 2ohm ones. I've wired them in series/parallel to keep the 2 ohm load at the amp (I've got a separate amp running these) and the other amp runs the rest at 4 ohm.
