To clarify, you think the bit stuck in the base on the car, in my picture, is the one I should try removing?Replacement aerials come with a few different threaded adaptors to fit different cars. I suspect that it may just be the adaptor stuck in the base. Try turning it with pliers, or two nuts put on and locked together, then turn the lower one.
