Sorry but that is the exact attitude why people do whatever they want with no repercussions these days.I think you might have to just suck that one up.
Pretty sure one of the breakers on here will be able to source you a replacement grille. And swapping it over is about an hour all in. However, if they swapped it in a rush then they are likely to have snapped off the plastic pins on your bumper. The grille is held onto these by those odd push fit star washer things. When you try to pull them off they snap the plastic pins. Only way to be sure is to cut those washers with snips to loosen them, then fit new ones. In your case, I strongly suspect you'll find most of those pins are missing and the grille is bodged into place.thanks to them I'm stuck with it as I can't do it myself and it's going to cost too much to have it done.
Would the police do anything? And that is precisely the reason why they swapped them. Someone left the grille under something, drilled through it and thought 'oh s**t, what do we do?' Then realised they can't just buy another one (easily). Your car was sitting there, some bright spark noticed it was the same and swapped it.
I would guess they waited to see if you noticed straight away. If you had they would have apologised and said they would source you a replacement and made some excuse why they needed to swap them over (like the other car had to go back tomorrow, etc).
As you didn't notice, they can deny all knowledge now and think they have got away with it.
I would not let anyone get away with that. It's just not right.
Ask the garage if they have cctv. I bet they do, somewhere. And ask for details of all the owners of cars they had in that day so you can check for dashcams. TBH I would be calling the Police and demand they look into this.

Not want you want to hear, but the easiest solution may well be to replace the whole bumper.
They should. Even if it's getting CCTV to try and prove they did this. And if the Police aren't interested you threaten to complain to the chief constable and your MP (they do all still work for us, surprisingly).Would the police do anything?
Maybe not, but others could for you. Pity I'm so far away.Jesus, not something I can do![]()
Whatever way I look at it it's going to cost me a lot of money and time to put right. I've enjoyed this forum and the car for 4 years and had hoped to keep it until I gave up driving but at this moment I don't know what to do. To think that some scumbag or scumbags think it's acceptable to do this to a customer's car is awful. I can't prove it is them but they had the car for 8 hours to do a service, I rang them several times throughout the day to be told it wasn't ready. It's taken the shine away.Maybe not, but others could for you. Pity I'm so far away.
Such a shame. Give it a day or two to settle in your mind.Whatever way I look at it it's going to cost me a lot of money and time to put right. There aren't any enuff_zed, your one of a kind. I've looked online and new bumpers don't seem to come with the bottom grill, as you say I will wait a few days to settle down, at the moment I am still very angry. It's so sad that I can't trust a garage to be honest. It might be better to get a complete bumper as the repair I did a while ago has never been very nice and now if I have to remove the bumper it might pay to change the whole lot and be no more expensive than having the paint professionally done. However I expect I will just put up with it and live with it. I really do appreciate you kind offer of help and if I lived nearer I would get you to do all my work on my car.Such a shame. Honestly if you were within reach I would fit a bumper for nowt to help you keep the car, assuming you could find a good one.
I don't know of any 'me's' down your way though.
Put a wanted ad on here for a good secondhand bumper, complete. You never know. There aren't any enuff_zed, your one of a kind. You can get a whole car for £1200 and swap the bits over. https://www.facebook.com/marketplac...wse_serp:b61a2b18-a172-4f7b-8cd3-8ddada48973dThat's a kind offer. It all hinges then on how many of the pins on the bumper are still intact.I have a spare lower grille here in Chester, you can have it for Free just dont part way with your zed
Yup. My theory was that if they whipped it off his car quickly they would have just pulled those spring nuts and then they tend to snap the plastic pin off as they come away, due to the way they grip the plastic. I've usually found I have to use snips to open up the clips so they don't damage the plastic. If those cowboys did it they wouldn't have been careful.it doesn't have pins like the facelift.
it has holes and pins are attached to the bumper itself and you use the aftermarket lock washers to secure them
