Repairing cracked seats

Just wondering if people have had success using a kit to repair cracked seats. I assume if you repair an area on a seat, you would then nead to recolour both seats?

Photo shows the level damage, also seat looks a bit grubby, slightly surprised as the car has done less than 60000 miles. Although white/cream interiors seem to look grubby in most adverts. Do they just photo badly?

They will clean up but the bolster will need paint.

Woolite detergent diluted works well for me to clean them.

The seat below is canberra beige buts it nappa leather. The ones in your picture are Kansas leather.
These have been cleaned:

The below shows the seat base and only the left damaged bolster have been painted:

So when cleaned the paint will match well.

Hi Usel, thanks for the reply.
It looks like you achieved really good results. Did you use a kit/paint from Furniture Clinic, also did you spray the seats or apply the paint with say a sponge?
Also did you use filler on the cracks?

I sand the leather with 800 grit paper.

Then use the repair paint from furniture clinic.

I apply the paint using a sponge, thin coats I wipe, thicker coat needed then I dab.

If not happy with the finish then wait 24hrs and lightly sand again.

Then apply paint.

Rinse and repeat until looking perfect

Be careful when sanding near stitching. Avoid if possible but that's not always possible.

It cleans cream/beige/white seats better than anything I have tried. Great value for money as it comes in a 750ml bottle which you dilute at 15/85 with water. I have safely worked at 50/50 for heavy stains.

Apply 3 coats. Apply the 2nd and 3rd just before the previous is starting to dry and then wipe off with a wet towel. Use a tooth brush or similar on heavy stains if needed.

I originally got it for the alcantara but found it equally as good on the leather.

I got really good results with the colourant from scratch doctor https://thescratchdoctor.co.uk/product- ... rands/bmw/
I used a cut up washing up sponge to apply . Use the smooth side. I did 4 coats. The 250ml bottle is around £17. Leave at least 15 minutes between coats. It has stayed looking good months later. There is loads in the bottle so probably enough for 4 seats. It was a perfect colour match. The main worn area was the left bolster which now looks like new. Don't worry if it looks patchy when applied. As it dries it will look great. But definitely use a cleaner first - I used Autoglym leather cleaner but it looks like other forum members got great results with the diluted Woolite.

Nice job. Light coloured seats when worn like that just look terrible and really make the interior look bad. Well worth a bit of time to learn how to do it and patience when painting, but great outcome!
