Hard-wearing paint for metal?

I'm in the process of doing a complete custom refurb of my daughter's microscooter and want to make sure I paint it with the correct paint.

I've stripped down all the parts with a flap disc and some find sandpaper so all surfaces are very smooth ready for painting. I initially considered powder coating them but quite fancy completing the project myself start to finish.

My question is what type of spray paint do I want to use for a hard-wearing finish? I've been looking at plasti-kote enamel primer and topcoat as they do a glitter finish that she'd like. Is this kind of paint a good option?

Thanks in advance.

I've used plasti kote on some outdoor bits and pieces (mainly plastic stuff) and it does the job well. Spray many thin coats and you should get a nice durable finish that should last a good while.

Those parts look like aluminium so for longevities sake you would be best using an etch primer first before applying a suitable top coat

Etch primer followed by an enamel top coat will give you the toughest finish. A final coat of clear laquer if you want a deep gloss. Make sure you fully degrease the aluminium with isopropyl alcohol before you start.

Lovely stuff, thanks all!

I shall share the final result when it's done :0

Thanks again to all. I picked up some etch primer today from Halfords along with some enamel topcoat and some glitter spray just to set it off

All primed and ready for paint (including an accidental coat of glitter)

Looks great, but the handle is back to front by the looks of it?

I thought that as well but it seems to go together one way only. If you Google for "microscooter sprite" they all seem to look the same
