Thats a few people that have said to get rid of the runflats! I thought it would be good to keep them on in case I did get a flat but I have breakdown cover so for a more enjoyable less rigid ride maybe I should ditch them?...

Yes, yes, yes! Your issue might be a classic case of tramlining, something that will significantly improve with non-RFTs. Not to mention they're cheaper. If you already have breakdown cover then perfect!

I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2s, which I would thoroughly recommend. Wait until your fronts or rears need changing, then swap all four corners out for non-RFTs. Best to order them online to your local garage and get them changed for super cheap, will probably save money doing that than taking it to Kwik Fit or a similar company. If you want to compare the handling/ride of a Zed back to back, drop me a PM as I'm nearby.

Sorry to hear about the keying, best of luck getting it fixed.

Sounds like tramlining to me and can be quite startling and worrying when it happens especially If you're not used to it.
You say it happens on motorways - some of them are dreadfully worn by lorries and the like and can have channels grooved into the carriage ways which when your tyres come across them get dragged into them and that's when you feel the steering pulling you one way or the other depending how you enter them.
This happens whenever there are level changes on the road. It happened to me quite a bit when I first got my Zed and it's not nice and takes getting used to - keep both hands on that steering wheel.

I changed to non-runflats and things became much better but do buy tyres recommended by the Forum members - normal car tyres won't be a great help.

I also think you mentioned your tyres are getting 'low' - by that I assume you mean the tread - well when the tyres wear to 3 or 4mm their performance does suffer. I change my tyres when they get to this point.

Sorry to hear about the vandalism - it's something which worries me all the time - sounds like it can be sorted fairly easily though if you get to the right place - good luck!

:driving:

I'd be pretty sure it's tram lining due to runflats. It will be worse in cold weather or when the tyres have not heated up as the sidewalls are even stiffer than usual. Mine was awful on RF's and a swap to standard tyres totally transformed the twitchy antics, improved the ride and made the car a pleasure to drive.

I was definitely wrong about the pressures (thought it sounded too low) - fronts 33 and rears 36 i have them at?

Need to change the pressures on my tyres now they have all been swapped round!

Got a quote back for the repair on the keying and its £350 to fill and respray the whole bonnet!! *GULP*

The instability could be something as simple as a wheel weight falling off. My Z is pretty sensitive to wheel balanacing so yours probbably is too...

Hey EMJ!

Sorry to hear that Zoe is unwell! I'm not sure if I have any ideas for the steering issues but I would strongly advise getting rid of the run flats! I've recently changed mine and the ride is so much better! Tram lining has virtually gone and the ride isn't so harsh and crashy!

From memory you work near me, for body shop guys I always use Pendleton body repairs (Ian) who is located in the units behind Ash train station! Really nice guy and I'm sure he'd have a look at the car for you! Might be worth a try!

Oh cool thanks.

So far all the quotes have come back at £350 as they said I'll need the whole bonnet resprayed!

I'll give that guy a go too!

deffo go with silly things first like pressures, I found I had slow puncture and you can`t tell how flat a tyre is with RFT
