ZM4 Rear Conversion

As an owner of an //M, I don't care what anyone does to their car, except for sticking the //M badges on the sides/rear, unless it is an actual //M  I did get a chuckle yesterday when I spied an older 3'er with a V8 sticker on the side front quarter panels  Really wanted to be able to pull alongside and let him know of my amusement :driving: Unfortunately I was out of my car and heading into the grocery store

Good attitude ovrkll!!! I agree completely & share in ur amusement of people who pretend thier engine in bigger than they say it is

I don't intend to badge my car as an M car, i just like the styling of the whole thing! I will be sticking to my schnitzer badges when the conversion is complete.

wasnt trying cause offence to anyone- I have the M seats in ,mine and agree they are much better than satndard. I just think the the M rear bumper is solely for M cars and therefore as wrong as sticking M badges on a 316- anyone who hears the car will no its not an M?! modding is fine and down to personal taste but isnt this different to replicating?

I'm certainly not taking offence, so don't worry there. I love healthy debate and value the differences of opinion and perspective.

I'd be very surprised if anyone ever mistook mine for an ///M with its 3.0i badges, sport wheels, auto box, plain bonnet, etc. but picking better looking bits off other models as a part of customisation is I think a good way to go.

On replicas I think they have their place too. From AC cobras through to Ford GT40's and also the kids who want the look and feel of an aspirational model but without the insurance, running costs or ability to afford it.

I think there is a big difference between modifying to your own taste and trying to pass off your car as a different model, i would suggest the latter is more in the line of Corsa LS to GSI or Focus LX to ST type stuff and i would also say it goes with the types of owners, my opinion not neccesseraly correct

Gotta say that neither am i a kid who can't afford insurance & running costs, nor am i your stereotypical "corsa/focus modder"

I resent these comments & didn't come on this forum for that :x cheers

as already said there is no offence ment by anyone-simply differing opinions- , the forum is an open debate but its your car at the end of the day.

can't see why you take this personal to be honest, i did not refer to you as a "corsa/Focus modder"
I think you may have read what i wrote wrongly, also my referance to "the latter" is to my statement in the same post :)

ive only made one mod to my M... to remove the badges.

i think it should be entirely about buying a car that looks as close to your ideal as possible, then if it's still not quite there, doing stuff to make it more personal.

personally, i think c10's 3.0 looks absolutely sweet, and if it wasnt for the fact that im obsessed with red things, i think id be equally proud :)

A 2.5 facelifted to an M... badge and all :D

Actually not a bad looking Zed overall. I think the photos 'wash out' the interior. Real shame to have slapped and ///M badge on the back though.

The photos didn't wash out the interior. On '03 Z4's, when optioned with red seats/door trims, the Z4 came with gray dash/console/door trims as opposed to black trims.

Perhaps my terminology was not too good. :( Of course the photo did not turn black to grey (evidenced by the luggage net and other minor trims), but it's made the interior look a little flat with overly bright red coming out in the seats. Having said that I don't recall seeing that combo before, so it is unusual

So wait, if we are :poke: at that car, what does it mean when I get the same body kit yet refrain from M badgin it?

IMHO any mods and customising is OK but slapping a badge on from a model that is it not is a step too far, hey but we each have different views on that one.

I do however echo the comments and like this diffuser/kit
