ZHP nob

well i called into stratstone bmw hull and asked if they had stock of this said awesome nob...

yayhhhh and they did  so todays plan is not to hit myself in the face removing old one

it is a heavy little thing

oh and i got discount as i was in uniform ..cool
and the eye from a very nice looking sales assistant
think im going back in tomorrow too

I recently fitted a ZHP knob after being disappointed by the standard Z4 fare.....

Makes a big difference to the gear change on the car, the weight really adds to the feel.

Not sure about this ZHP nob but I run ZHP ecu map on my e85 Z4 as we found out it was same s54 ECU used in the later US model E46's and as we don't get them in UK and not many tuners have come across them my tuner decided to try it by copying the additional coding to mine. Was only some cam adjustments an raised rpm limit but seems to go well

the software chip you mention is a eurocharged performance part, over in the states. its about 300 quid to buy over here.

more expensive than a re map on a rolling road, with only 10hp improvement showing. :o

M54 ECU surely?

The ZHP tune on US cars has different cams so just changing the ECU won't get the same results, may even reduce power in parts...

Not sure about this ZHP nob but I run LED number plate lights as I found out they are the same as used on the 1 series. Look cool and increases my mpg because of the lower power... :fuelfire:

M54 is the engine yeah but S54 was the ECU used in the US E46 model im sure

This is actually interesting as I never dyno'd the car before to know its power and it made 222 bhp after but has rear silencer delete. I always thought it was down on power due to that and as its like 13yr old piston wear and weak vanos unit could also effect this. As I didn't test before and dyno's can be quite out anyway I just took it with a pinch of salt and wasn't too bothered still did 14.3 at quarter mile so that's about right. My local dyno place is £35 fro 3 runs so I'm going test again and see if there's a power gain back on the oem ECU map if not will put the ZHP map back on.

I thought that was normal I've paid that price at other places too I'm in Birmingham though plenty of others about so prices maybe cheaper than rural places. Tbh without having the ZHP camshafts it probably makes little difference me changing the map I will will try no point loosing power. I don't have to pay my mate he's decent with programming and coding check him out if ever in the midlands
