ZHP Illuminate Knob Fitted

Can you do a " how to" ? Or is it really simples! :)

I've not converted one yet although it shouldn't be hard. Biggest issue is finding the insert that lets the light through. Most companies want you to send your existing knob away so they can use the insert. I might buy one from ebay and have a play. When I removed the insert that was on my ZHP it fell to bits although I kow it had started to delaminate so that maybe why.

A post I found on another forum.

Sorry, I didn't explain properly, on a like for like basis, is it just a case of removing your original gearnob, disconnecting the wires then the reverse with the new one? Or is there any soldering the wires etc?

I am a numpty with wires!

Sorry, unplug wires first then remove knob. I bought new pins and plug to go on the knob I bought so it is all plug and play and can put the original one back on at any time.

These are the part numbers

Plug for Illuminated Gear Knob 61.13.8.373.583
Illuminated Gear Knob Contact Pins 61.13.0.005.198

A couple of quick questions. I've just bought an illuminated gear knob from fleabay. My car doesn't have an illuminated knob at the moment....

The knob has two wires (one red, one black). I've ordered a pair of the pin contacts and a connector using the part numbers supplied earlier in this thread..... but which wire goes where on the connector? And then, what does that connect to? No instructions arrived with the knob

Anyone out there have any ideas?

As you don't have the correct connection you need to tap into the wire for the cig lighter light. TBH you don't need the plug and you will probably need to extend the wires. If you get the wires round the wrong way it won't work and you will need to reverse them.
