ZHP Gearknob

what do you think of the Performance gear knob for 3 series? Nice and short, heavy as well.
I think it should be a fit.

I think we can let you off, 3.0Si is about as close as any BMW gets to it's BMW M counterpart...

Better than having M badges on a 2.0 diesel 5 series or something :rofl:


Very tempted to try one out for that price. Not that I don't like the standard one, but it does look a bit form over function for the type of car... a tad out of place in the rest of the interior :)

Whats the problem? It's not as if you are plastering M badges all over the outside of the car. The gear knob is pretty subtle anyway and makes the gear change that much lighter.

My other car is a 320 M Sport Touring.......... M Sport badges on the wheels, steering wheel, gear knob and sills and comes as standard. Just what is the problem with that? Its not pretending to be an M3!

That's a lovely shift knob but I have had a metal one before and prefer leather as it gets too cold! Prefer the OEM look too myself.

Likewise - there is some other black bits in the cabin so it might not look too off.
 
shorter shift !! you can change gear on an M with 2 fingers using a standard gear knob,
maybe its the weight of the bulb that slows the gear change down :D

:) why not simply install a SSK for like 300 bucks, probably will do wonders on all fronts. Just getting a shorter knob is ok but...
 
Have to say the ZHP short gear knob is fabulous - as is the leather centre arm rest, makes *such* a difference on a long motorway drive... both elbows at the same height.

Fitment is by sticky pads but 6 months later no problems... finish is very good, almost OEM.
 
Hi Guys,

Just "installed" the ZHP short knob and on first impressions seems to make quite a difference. Changes seem smoother but I sure as heck can't work out why!! Wishful thinking??

I must admit I was a little hesitant at pulling the old knob so hard but it finally came unstuck (and I almost smacked myself in the mouth :oops: )

I have a 2004 Z4. How do you get the knob off? I tried twisting, not good then a pull and nothing.

Do i have to pull more?

Do you heave both the ZHP knob and the LeatherZ armrest? I was thinking about getting the armrest, but thought that it might be too high when coupled with the shorter ZHP gearknob.

Pull for all you're worth! You can try to give it a little twist, but there are no threads, it should come straight out. Mine was stuck in there pretty good too. Just watch the face!
 
Mmmmm, ok, will try.

Only bought my car last friday and im already doing the knob, wind deflector, tyres, alloys and tailpipe lol.
 
ah thats what happens when you read this forum there always another mod to do. i think someone did post on it here that the best way to remove the gearknob is put the roof down put the car in gear and sit astride with one foot in each footwell and pull up but be careful not to hit yourself in the face when it lets go
 
Jeeesh, well i work out down the gym, so hopefully wont be too much hastle, just dont want to pull the gearbox through the car too :P
