ZHP Gear knob

Is this the correct one for an M, and how do you swop them over. Is it just pull as hard as you can?

put it in 2nd and pull towards you.. just watch your face/teeth/glasses everything..

or you'll be bleeding as it goes without warning :D

I think that should fit, it won't be lit up like it should be though. I went with an F10 M5 one and modified the hoop.

Yeah, that's the one.
I found the 2nd gear technique mentioned is the best way - you have to pull real hard on it - it wont budge and you'll think it must be screwed on - just take another deep breath and keep pulling :)

are you saying the gear knob lights up?
I have not driven the car in the dark yet, but that sounds amazing, might go for a drive tonight :driving:

Hhaha all this pulling your knobs;)

Yes they light and also a Red light from above over area

Don't be put off, just use common sense. Roof down, stood awkwardly legs either side of the centre, and sharp pull up once aiming towards your stomach. Mine came off with no more force than a tight cork in a bottle.

Make sure you disconnect the wire first!

Not joking, I actually have of them at work! It's the ostrich pillow version though.

So does the M5 one also offer an improved gear change more or less so then the ZHP?

It's exactly the same as the ZHP, just illuminated. I don't have a picture of it lit up but it looks good, slightly brighter than the original one.

just found the part number 25112284205, going to get a price as I would like to keep the elimination with the improved feel. :driving:

Did you keep the original gaiter? I modified the M5 one to fit on the Z4 hoop so the seams go forwards.

Yeah I kept the original, couldn't be bothered to swap. May do one day, yours looks good. Trouble is the leather looks quite different to the handbrake gaitor and grip leather after all those years. I'd want to be replacing those too if I did it but it's extremely expensive for the handbrake gaitor + pad. The leather of the new steering wheel in this picture gives some idea (albeit the flash is caught on it I think). The knob is some years older and already showing it's age :( It is lit up though nicely :)
