ZHP Gear Knob Cap

Edit - Actually looking at that it appears to be the whole gear knob, not just the cap. Anyone have any suggestions for one that may fit? If not I guess it wasn't such a bargain but at least it gave me the opportunity to test it out and that I like the feel of it (insert pun)!

What’s it like without the cap?
I only ask as thinking how easy it would be to convert to illuminated. Is it just a case of shoving an LED in there?

For the price of the whole gear knob on eBay, couldn’t you butcher it and take the cap off to put on yours?
If it’s the same shape that is.

I'll get a picture of it later but assuming what I have is a genuine one I think you'd need to do a bit more modifying than that as there's nowhere to feed a wire.

Ah yes that kind of thing cheers! Looks as though it's a different fitting for mine, I'll take a photo later but that's a useful starting point

This is the top. Not having seen another zhp gear knob I’m not sure if this is genuine as advertised.

Looking at the leather I don't think it is a genuine ZHP, but whether it is or not, most BMW gear-knobs of that era are just push fit items - I got one for my E90 3 Series from "aliexpress" for about a tenner and it fitted just fine!
