ZF 6 speed slush box auto potential problem

I was driving today using the gear lever as manual changer and I noticed when changing from 1st to 2nd it would be in 3rd. At first I thought I had 'tugged' it twice by mistake. So checked next time and it went from 1st to 2nd to 3rd and so on..
Then it definitely happened a couple more times. When changing down through 4th, 3rd, 2nd etc it was fine.
It is fine in full auto and when using steering wheel controls; just the lever. Could it be an over-sensitive switch or maybe something more sinister?
I'm not sure on maintenance regimes for the 6 speed torque converter; or even if there is one?

Well, I already had a broken wire in the transmission last year. Exactly the same as in the roof shell of the E89.

This is the German transmission crack - "Don Simon"

His recommendation is a transmission service every 120-150 TKm.

Take it into account for xour next trip to Bavaria.

slushbox more often than not pulls away in second gear unless you have been at a stop for a good while, are you sure its not just actually already in second gear?

Thanks Robbi. The car has done under 70 K km (43000 miles).

Definitely starting off in first, as it is in manual (I keep checking to make sure). I would have thought if it's a sensitive switch, then it would 'jump' other gears too, but it's only 2nd-3rd only sometimes and only in manual with the gear lever. It could be 'operator error' but has happened too often even for a tit like me.
